We’re looking for an au pair for summer 2025!

Dear Future Au Pair,
Welcome to our family! We are so excited about the possibility of having you come live with us and become a part of our daily life here in Grímsey, a small and peaceful island in the north of Iceland.
Our family consists of four children: a 7-year-old boy who is full of energy and curiosity, a 12-year-old who is independent, a 17-year-old teenager, and our oldest who is 22 and no longer lives at home.

Your main focus would be helping with the younger two, especially our 7-year-old.

We hope to find someone who enjoys spending time with children, playing games, reading books, being creative, and exploring nature. We value kindness, honesty, and open communication. We want you to feel like part of our family – not just someone who helps out, but someone who shares meals with us, joins in on little adventures, and enjoys being here.
Life on Grímsey is quiet, unique, and full of natural beauty. The island is known for its rich birdlife – especially the puffin, which can be seen almost everywhere during the summer months. If you love nature, you’ll be amazed by the countless seabirds, the ocean views, and the peaceful atmosphere.
We’ll do our best to help you settle in, learn about Icelandic culture, and feel at home. We know that moving to a new country and living with a new family can be a big step, but we are here to support you. If you are kind, fun, flexible, and excited about new experiences – we think you’ll love it here.

We’re looking for someone kind, open-minded, responsible, and adaptable — someone who enjoys being with children and brings positive energy into the home. Your main role will be to care for our two youngest boys, so it's important that you genuinely enjoy spending time with kids, can take initiative, and come up with fun, creative things to do together.

Alongside childcare, we’d really appreciate help with light household tasks like tidying up after the children, doing some laundry, vacuuming, and helping keep shared spaces clean and organized.

Now and then, we may also ask you to cook a simple meal if we’re running behind — just basic family food, nothing fancy.
Flexibility is a big plus, as life can be unpredictable and sometimes we might need an extra hand at short notice.

Our hope is that you’ll feel like a part of the family. You’re always welcome to join us in our daily life, meals, or outings when it feels natural to you. At the same time, we completely understand the need for personal space — both yours and ours — and we trust that you’ll respect that balance.
When you're working or spending time with us at home, meals are included. If you choose to eat out during your free time, we just ask that you cover that yourself.

If we go on a family trip, you’re very welcome to come along. Since that would be your time off, we’d ask you to pay for your own expenses — unless we ask you to help with the kids during the trip, in which case it will be part of your working hours and we’ll cover your costs.
More than anything, we value kindness, open communication, and mutual respect. We’d love to create a warm, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere where you feel welcome, appreciated, and free to be yourself.

What We Offer:
• Private accommodation with your own room
• Weekly pocket money: 16,000 ISK (around 105–110 EUR)
• All meals included — you’re welcome to eat with us or when it suits you.
• 4–5 working hours per day
• Overtime payment if occasionally needed
• Flexible weekends and holidays — to be discussed together
• 50% coverage of your travel costs to your home country
• Opportunities for extra work if you're interested
• Occasional meals out with the family
• We cover entrance fees to activities like swimming or other outings
• You are always welcome to join us for family activities during your free time. Sometimes we may offer to cover the cost, but in other cases you may be expected to pay for yourself
