Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a 20 year old woman, raised in Oslo, Norway, currently residing in Trondheim while working and studying part time.

One of the main reasons I wish to work as an Au Pair with a family is to be able to advance myself and my social skills, as well as getting the opportunity to offer help to others, which I appreciate. I would also enjoy being able to experience a foreign country and culture first hand. I have always wanted to live abroad before my studies, as I love new experiences and adventures. Currently, I am hired as a personal assistant for people with special needs. My main employer is a 13 year old boy with autism and other mental disabilities. Even though the work is challenging, as it offers tasks that I have never encountered before, it makes me feel useful, while it also challenges me to a rewarding level.

As a person I am easy-going, extroverted and athletic. I highly value kindness, honesty and courage, and find it important to implement these values in my daily life. Both in my social life, and at work. I am one out of five siblings, me being the youngest, with three brothers and one sister. Being the youngest of five, I early developed skills of how to navigate socially, challenge myself amongst people close to me, whilst sharing with and caring for the people around me. With my sister being multi-handicapped, my three brothers and I were the ones mainly living at home during my upbringing. Being the youngest, and a girl, in a sibling group of our size, forced me to toughen up early, and develop my communication skills in an early stage. Our group dynamic is invaluable with strong bonds, and we share a lot of interests. We are a physically active family, participating in several sports, often together. Mainly we play team sports, such as football, requiring development of good communication and team player skills. This knowledge comes in handy when working together with people for a common goal. Such as having a pleasant family life and having the weekdays run smoothly.

I have always had a fondness for testing new activities, seeing new places and exploring, as well as developing my personal skills. Amongst other activities, I play the piano and enjoy hobbies such as painting and carpentry. Exploring new places and going on adventures are some of my favorite activities. Even though I am a fairly active person, I also enjoy being able to relax with a good movie or read a book to settle down. In a couple of years, I plan to educate myself in Copenhagen, Denmark, studying for a Master of Science. Combining my experience with childcare and a sister requiring extra attention when at home, I figured I would use that experience to help other families abroad. I strongly believe I am suited to help a family in need of an AuPair, making their environment less stressful and more enjoyable, as that is what I am currently doing.
