Dear Future Au Pair,

We know you have lots of choices for hosts, with lots of great kids in wonderful families like ours. So let us tell you about some other things that might help you to know more about us and wants you to come to join us!.

We live in a large, beautiful house with a big garden in a gorgeous and quite neighborhood. We have short distance to the center of Echterdingen (5-minute walk), and a lot of nature right behind the house.

Your bedroom has its own attached toilet for your exclusive use and a nice view into the backyard. We have all the modern stores, restaurants, cafes, bars, fitness center, grocery stores and amenities in walking distance including at least five large shopping malls within a 20-30 minute drive. Also, the outlet city Metzingen with its global sport, fashion and designer stores is just a 15 minute drive away from us.

If big cities are your flavor, we have that covered, too. Stuttgart, Boeblingen and Esslingen are just 20 minutes away. You can reach Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Ulm after a short drive. You can get there either by car, bus, or train. You can easily spend the day or the weekend there. You are also interested in getting to know other European countries over the weekend? No problem, Austria, Swiss, Italy and France are quite close and easily reachable by car.

We are also surrounded by outdoor recreational opportunities. There are endless trails for bicycling or running nearby. There are lakes for swimming, and we have the Swabian Alps and the Black Forest right in front of us to go hiking and climbing during summer and skiing in the winter.

We also have the Stuttgart Airport close by (10 min by car) for travelling further with budget flights to many European cities.

If you like hanging out, doing sports, enjoying nature and culture, you are at the right place.

For your education, you can take classes at the local education center or in one of the many community colleges and schools.

Each summer we usually take a family trip for 2 weeks to Italy. We sometimes spend extended weekends travelling to the Bodensee, Austria, Swiss or also within Germany. You are invited to join us on these trips.

Now the most important part! After almost 5 years we are returning back from the USA to Germany. Our 4 kids are age 9 (Valentina), 7 (Alia), 5 (Alejandro) and 2 (Antonio). Valentina and Alia will visit the primary school in Echterdingen. Alejandro and Antonio will go to Daycare (we are currently trying to find a daycare for them). We are an international family and as we raise our kids trilingual (Spanish, English and German) we are looking for you to keep the US/Mexican culture and customs up and help us to further develop our kid’s language skills. Discipline is very important for us, and we hope you will continue our methods, to give the kids guidance and structure. Keeping the kids active, spending time outside, education, and eating healthy has another high priority for us. All four kids are well behaved, happy, and very positive. They will be a joy to you after a short period of getting familiar with you.

As for us, we both have professional jobs that keep us busy, but we make it a priority to spend as much time possible with our kids. We would love to make you a part of our family and would welcome you spending your time with us – but of course you will also have enough time to have your own social life. We encourage each other and we accept feedback to make ourselves into better individuals. We do not have any pets. We are a non-smoking household and would prefer an au pair that does not smoke.

Beyond all that, we really do hope you like our family and find us to be a good fit for your goals and motivations during your time away from home. We need your help, and we look forward to integrating you in our family, but we also want to help you enjoy your time in Germany. We are kind, warm, and very open-minded people, and I can assure you that whatever good you show us will be returned to you.
