For three months, I had the wonderful opportunity to live an unforgettable experience as an Au Pair in the beautiful city of Trento,
Italy. Thanks to the AuPair.com platform, I was able to connect with an incredible family who welcomed me and gave me an enriching experience.
The selection and application process through AuPair.com was simple and effective. After completing my profile,
I contacted several interested families and finally found one that perfectly matched my expectations.
We had video calls on WhatsApp to get to know each other better and clarify doubts, which allowed us to establish a genuine connection before my arrival in Italy.
The Host Family in Trento was exceptional. A young, understanding, and loving couple, along with an adorable and caring little girl, welcomed me with open arms and included me as part of their family from the first moment. I had the opportunity to meet their family, who were also very kind and made me feel at home.
As an Au Pair,
my main responsibilities were taking care of the girl while her parents worked. From snack time to play and nap time, I was in charge of taking care of all of the little girl's needs. It was a rewarding and meaningful experience to be able to contribute to the girl's growth and well-being during my stay.
In addition to caring for the girl, I had
free time in the evenings and weekends to explore the charming city of Trento and Italy in general and participate in various activities of my interest. The family provided me with valuable advice to
enjoy Italy beyond conventional tourism, and thanks to this, I was able to explore wonderful places, ride a bike, enjoy nature during walks, and, of course, take an unforgettable trip to Rome.
The
language was an initial challenge, as I did not know Italian. However, the father of the Host Family spoke my native language, and both were also fluent in English, which made communication easy. Still, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and focused on
learning Italian with the support of the family and my personal dedication. Over time,
I managed to communicate with some fluency. Learning Italian was a significant plus that enriched my experience as an Au Pair in Italy.
Throughout my stay as an Au Pair, I experienced significant moments of personal growth.
Being away from my home and family was challenging, but the warm welcome and support of the Host Family helped me cope with the homesickness. I also experienced some
moments of culture shock that broadened my perspective on life and different cultures.
My advice to future Au Pairs is to make the most of this unique opportunity. Enjoy every moment, be dedicated to your responsibilities, and
be open to trying new things about the local culture. The Au Pair experience provides the opportunity to grow personally and establish deep connections with people from all over the world.
I especially want to highlight Liza, my Host Mom, who became exceptionally supportive during my time as an Au Pair. Her organization, clarity, attention, and service made my stay even more pleasant and rewarding.
In summary, my experience as an
Au Pair in Italy was unforgettable and highly enriching. I thank the Host Family for giving me this opportunity and for becoming my family away from home. I recommend all future Au Pairs to venture into this unique and valuable experience.
