Dear Future Host Family!

My name is Rebeca, but you can call me Beca.
I'm from Brazil, and I live in Aracaju, the capital of the state of Sergipe (Brazil's smallest state), a very cozy coastal city.
I live with my mom, my sister, my nephew and my brother-in-law. My parents are divorced, but they get on well. My father lives here in Aracaju in another neighborhood. They are very supportive of my decision to become an Au Pair!
I have a degree in Aesthetics and Cosmetics and currently work as a professional make-up artist. Make-up was a hobby of mine that ended up becoming a profession.

I was a volunteer at a philanthropic institution that operates as a school nursery and takes in needy children every day called Lar de Zizi (Zizi's Home). They take in children from 3 to 5 years old. I went from Monday to Friday from 11am to 4pm. I'd arrive at their lunchtime and we'd say a prayer first, and then they'd have lunch. Then it was nap time, usually for the three-year-olds who were in the process of adapting, so I would pay more attention to putting them to sleep. When they woke up, they would go into the classroom to put on their shoes (they take them off in the morning when they go for a shower, and wear sandals), and then go to snack time. Once snack time was over, it was time to play. Depending on the day, we would watch cartoons or movies, play in the playground, draw pictures or paint, or play in the playroom.
And I also worked as a babysitter for my neighbor, his son was 4 years old. It wasn't a fixed job with fixed hours, it was for some weekends when he needed to go out at night, and also some days during the week in the afternoon or evening, depending on my neighbor's needs, and he would talk to me to find out if I was available.
And I have a nephew who is 10 years old and has always lived with me. Since he was 4 years old, I started taking care of him and spending time with him, feeding him, bathing him, sometimes taking him to school, and now I take him to his music class on Wednesdays.

With the Au Pair program I'll have the opportunity and unique experience of getting to know the USA, which is a country I've always wanted to get to know/experience American culture, meet new people and improve my English. As well as working with children, which is something I love.
I am a very quiet person, patient, attentive, organized, calm, flexible, open-minded, responsible, funny. I love animals (especially dogs), listening to music, going to the cinema, playing beach tennis, volleyball, soccer, going to the beach or swimming pool, watching the sunrise/sunset, playing board games, going to the gym and travelling. I really want to experience the snow and learn to ski, since it's not common in Brazil to snow, and going to Disney is one of my biggest dreams.
I like to cook my own food and have it ready for the week. My mother says I'm good at cooking, although it's not something I do very often. I've made some cakes that she said were better than hers lol and I'd definitely be honored to make some cake or other typical Brazilian food for you and the children.
