Letter to the family

Dear host family,
My name is Rike, I am 24 years old and from the north of Germany. I’m currently studying to become a teacher for English and History at the University of Vechta. As part of my studies, I am required to spend three months abroad – and I would love to spend this time as an au pair in a kind and welcoming family.

Becoming an au pair has been a long-time wish of mine. I want to improve my language skills, explore a new culture, and grow personally through this experience. I truly enjoy working with children – whether it’s babysitting, internships in schools, or taking care of my younger brother. Supporting children, encouraging them, and being part of their daily lives is something I find very fulfilling.

I would love to become part of an open and respectful family, where we can support each other and share experiences. I am a responsible, cheerful, and creative person who brings patience, reliability, and a genuine love for childcare. My studies have also provided me with valuable pedagogical knowledge that will help me adjust quickly to your family routine.

Experience

Although I have not officially worked as an Au Pair before, I have gathered valuable experience in childcare through various internships at schools, regular babysitting, and taking care of my younger brother and other children in my family. These experiences have taught me how to be patient, responsible, and creative when spending time with children. I enjoy helping them learn, supporting them in daily routines, and creating a safe and fun environment.

I would love to become an Au Pair abroad because it combines two things I am passionate about: working with children and learning about new cultures. Living in another country gives me the chance to improve my language skills, grow personally, and better understand different ways of life. It’s also a great opportunity to support a family, build a strong bond with the children, and become part of a new community.
