Letter to the family

I consider myself expressive, curious, and artistic. Above all I am passionate about anything I put my mind to. As I put in the work to what I do—whether it be childcare, housekeeping, or otherwise—I prioritize connection, respect, and resourcefulness.

I am working to finalize my degree in Interactive Media Arts at NYU with additional experience in journalism, studio art, and computer science. I have taken time off from school to attend a personal matter back in Massachusetts where I grew up.

As that has concluded, I am ready to jump into a new period of growth during which I wish to pursue my love for childcare. I have gravitated to working with kids in educational and caregiving settings since I was a teen. I have held positions of camp counselor, robotics coach, tutor, babysitter, hands-on workshop leader, and more. I have also worked as a cook and in-home personal assistant. As such, I am familiar with asking the questions required to become acquainted with your home and bond with your child. However, that isn’t my goal as a caregiver. As a host, you have put love in your home and have established rituals and guidelines for raising your children. I aim to understand the underlying values that coalesce your directions as to what you bring into your home, how you tend to what you keep, and what you prevent from settling in the first place.

Most recently, I babysat part-time while studying at NYU between 2020 and early 2023. Working in such a lively and unpredictable city, I have gained experience in respecting time, being communicative, having both plans and flexibility and building personal moments with families and their children amidst the non-stop marathon of everyday life.

As your au pair, I hope we can make more of those moments by starting with a breath and ending with a smile on all our faces.

Experience

Although I have not held an au pair position, I have several years of experience with caregiving and home keeping. The earliest is being a camp counselor and tutor in my teens. More recently, I have worked part-time as a babysitter, cook, and at-home personal assistant. I have also done short-term stays to watch over dogs and plants.

I am not looking to go abroad; in fact, I am looking to ideally stay in the Boston area or locate back to NYC for the position. I am interested in becoming an au pair here because I know what it takes to be active, healthy, and not overworked in the region, and all this takes a lot. I would be honored to help to make the workload lower and the joy higher. In turn, I gain bonding with a loving family, nurturing a stable home, and security and company to stay in an area. All this supports my activity, health, and feeling like I too am not overworked. Good support is neither one-way nor two, it’s a multi-directional stitch. I look forward to unraveling more ways the support is mutual and holistic between me and the family I work for.
