Letter to the family
Dear Host Family,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Erika, and I am excited to apply for the position of nanny or live-in tutor with your family. With a strong background in psychology, special education, and holistic well-being, I am deeply committed to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for children to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
Who I Am
I am 35 years old and come from the UK (originally from Hungary), with a degree in Psychology with Counselling and Psychotherapy and ongoing studies in Health Psychology. My approach to childcare is rooted in a holistic, person-centred philosophy, meaning I see and support children as whole individuals—considering their mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being.
I have extensive experience working with children of diverse needs, including those with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Prader-Willi Syndrome, supporting their development through tailored educational and therapeutic strategies. My goal is to create an inclusive, understanding, and empowering atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.
Why I Want to Become a Nanny or Live-in Tutor
Caring for children is more than just a job for me—it is a passion and a calling. I firmly believe that every child has unique strengths, and my role is to help them discover and develop their full potential. By combining my knowledge in child development, special education, and therapeutic communication, I aim to provide a safe space for emotional growth and self-expression.
Being a live-in caregiver also allows me to build deep, trusting relationships with children and their families, fostering stability and meaningful connections. I see this opportunity as a chance to not only to help but also learn from children, appreciating their perspectives and growing alongside them.
Travelling and discovering new places, other cultures and languages whilst studying online for my master's degree and meet new people and getting to know them better, being in their family while they are letting me into their deepest circle, are also my huge favourites to think about, so this opportunity would bring me lots of other types of benefits, too.
Why You Should Host Me
I bring a compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to childcare, ensuring a structured yet flexible environment where children feel both safe and encouraged to explore. As a strong advocate for emotional well-being, I understand the importance of active listening, open communication, and positive reinforcement in guiding children through their developmental journeys.
I am happy to organise creative activities, outdoor play, mindfulness exercises, and therapeutic techniques that promote self-regulation and confidence.
Why I Qualify for the Position
With my background in psychology, special education, and holistic care, I bring a well-rounded skill set to support children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. I am a very helpful and caring individual.
