Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Tjása, and I am a university student in the maritime province of Nova Scotia studying Theatre and Black & African Diaspora Studies. Culture and creativity are at the heart of everything I do, and I love finding ways to connect with people through them.
I was inspired to become an au pair after traveling to Europe last summer. Even though I was only there for a short time, I had some of the most memorable experiences of my life. That trip opened my eyes to how exciting it can be to immerse myself in a new environment, and it made me want to return for a longer, more meaningful stay. Becoming an au pair feels like the perfect opportunity to do this while also supporting a family and learning from their children.
Working with kids has already shown me how much they can teach us, whether through their creativity, honesty, or curiosity, and I am excited about the chance to share those everyday moments with your family. I hope to bring warmth, patience, and enthusiasm into your home, while also creating lasting memories together.

Experience

I currently work with an after-school care program for children aged 5 to 11, where I help with activities, homework, and creating a safe and fun environment. This role has taught me how different children learn and express themselves, and it has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and creativity. I have also cared for children in my community and among family and friends.
I would like to become an au pair abroad because I want to combine my love for working with children with my passion for exploring new cultures. Living with a host family will allow me to support children in their daily routines while also immersing myself in a new language, lifestyle, and traditions.
