Letter to the family

Hello Family!
I'm slightly older than the usual au pair candidate (rather than 'jeune fille au pair' I'm more like 'vieille fille au pair' haha) but as I think that age is just a number, I thought why not give this a go? I'm looking for a career break and an opportunity to learn French. I studied French at school and University for several years but je le parle just un petit peu parce que c'est très, très difficile!! But I love the French language and want to learn it.
When I was a young adult, I went to England to work and study, and ended up spending five years there. It was a wonderful experience! I have also lived and worked in Sweden, Spain and Malta, so I'm no stranger to living abroad and experiencing other cultures.
I'm looking for a family where I would either take care of an elderly person or children. If I was to take care of an elderly person, it would be great if they could hold some kind of conversation as I think it would be a great way of learning French. And if they tend to repeat themselves, all the better, as that's the way to learn! With children, I'd be happy to teach them English and help them with homework. And they can teach me French in return!
With children, I think it's important to have clear rules. I appreciate good manners and politeness. Having said that, it's also important to have fun and show love and affection of course! With elderly people, it is understandable that they're not always able to control their behaviour, and might act in a surprising way. But love and affection with them are equally important.
I love both cities and countryside, but prefer to live in a town or city. I can prepare simple meals but I'm no super chef in all honesty... But I'm happy to help with daily household tasks in general, like tidying up, food shopping, etc. I love animals so I'm also happy to look after pets.
So, if you think I might have what it takes to take care of your children or an elderly person of the family, please contact me! I'm excitedly waiting for responses. Grosses bises, Mari

Experience

I have two nieces, 6 and 8 years old, who I have been looking after during all their life. I absolutely adore them! I'm also a godmother to three children, and there are generally a lot of kids around me all the time as many of my friends have children. So this means that I'm regularly babysitting here and there, and the kids love it.
I have also previous experience of taking care of the elderly. When I was 20 years old, I worked in a care home for the elderly in Sweden. Therefore, I became very familiar with how the elderly are, what they need and enjoy. Also, we as a family took care of the grandparents before they passed away. I love listening the stories told by the elderly, they have seen so much in their lifetime!
I would like to become an au pair or a carer for an elderly person as I have a very nurturing nature. I love taking care of people and helping others. I know a lot of people who have been working as an au pair abroad and they've all had a wonderful experience so I thought this could be something suitable for me. I have always dreamed of moving to France and learning the language and as I'm getting older, I feel like it's now or never!
