Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Onicah, and I am a 23-year-old woman from a small, beautiful town called Mahikeng in the Northwest province of South Africa. I am so excited to introduce myself to you and to share why I would be honored to become your au pair.

I hold a matric qualification and enjoy living a balanced, active life. My hobbies include reading, swimming, taking long walks, driving, and playing sports. I find joy in connecting with people, learning new things, and creating meaningful bonds—especially with children.

I have always had a deep love for children of all ages. While I am comfortable working with any age group, I am absolutely obsessed with babies, toddlers, and infants. I find their innocence, curiosity, and pure energy so heartwarming. At the same time, I enjoy working with teenagers, as it reminds me of my own experiences growing up. I believe that guidance, understanding, and support during the teenage years can make a huge difference, and I’d love to be part of that journey for a young person.

What sets me apart is my passion, independence, and loving nature. I am kind, caring, joyful, and deeply committed to any task I take on. I’m also incredibly open-minded—I’m eager to learn about new cultures, religions, traditions, and the unique ways families around the world grow and evolve together.

Becoming an au pair is more than just a job for me—it’s a chance to become part of a family, to care for and nurture children, and to experience life in a completely new way. My Experience as an Au Pair and Why I Want to Be Abroad

I have always had a natural love for children and a nurturing personality, which has made my experience as an au pair both fulfilling and rewarding. Over time, I have cared for children of various ages—from infants and toddlers to school-age kids and teenagers. My responsibilities have included feeding, bathing, playing educational games, helping with homework, organizing fun activities, and simply being a positive, supportive presence in their daily lives.

Being an au pair has helped me grow in patience, responsibility, and adaptability. I’ve learned how to handle different personalities, communicate with both children and parents, and create a safe, joyful environment for young minds to grow. One of the things I value most is being able to form strong, trusting bonds with the children I care for and knowing I’ve made a difference in their lives.

The reason I want to be abroad as an au pair is because I believe there is so much more to life when we step out of our comfort zones. I want to see how other families live, learn from their culture, and grow through the experience. I’m curious about how people in other parts of the world balance life, education, family, and faith—and I’m open to learning new perspectives that can help shape my own future. For me, this journey isn’t just about traveling—it’s about expanding my horizons, building new relationships, and becoming the best version of myself while doing what I love: caring for children.
