Letter to the family
Dear future host family,
I'm Larissa and currently 22 years old. I live in Mannheim, Mannheim is a small city in the south of Germany with around 300000 people. Mannheim is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. I moved there because I wanted to start my training as a nurse there. I really like this kid of work because I can help different kind of people. I learn there the medical stuff, but also how to communicate with people in bad situations and with people of edge age.
I am an open-hearted person who likes to meet with people and to learn new things. Especially when I am able to travel around or planing the next steps I want to do, like this Au Pair Year. My friends would say, that I'm full of adventures and a person to have fun and to make long and deep talks. I am a caring, compassionating and gentle person in many Situations with people. I understand the feeling and emotion of people before they say something. Mostly, I can see it on their behavior or the way they speak with me. It's really helpful because on this way I can see what people need or what I can do.
In the year 2018/2019 I did my student-exchange year in Estonia, where I went to school and live in a host family. I lived there with my host mum, my host dad and my host brother (at this time 7 Years old). I made a lot of experience, got independent and get to know how to get into a new culture, a new family and a new life. It was one of the biggest experiences I ever did in my life. It was a big adventure and a teaching lifetime.
Before I moved to Mannheim, have I lived in Crivitz together with my mother and her husband Peter. Crivitz is a village near the Baltic-Sea with around 4000 inhabitants. I went there to school and made some significant steps to become the person I am now. In Crivitz, I got my first child-care experience.
I did babysitting in a family with 3 wonderful kids to the beginning 3-13 Years old, one boy, his name is Julian and two girls, her names are Anna and Luisa. We ate together for dinner, play together in their rooms and did numerous fun things together, like going into a pool. We played outside and inside. Occasionally, I helped the kids with schoolwork (homework or preparing for a test). Thereafter, I bring them to bed and reed them a book. We had a good time together and build a strong bonding. I was able to help them, play with them and take care of them.
Doing family meetings or when friends of my mum are coming to visit us with their kids, I play with them or braiding the hair. We went outside for a walk or going to the playground to have some fun
After my workshop for the carer card, I made a lot of experience on holiday camps. The holiday camps were organized from the church and other organizations. I was a carer for a group with around 10 kids, mostly between 7 and 12 years. We planned some workshops, have dying clothes, played together some games, mostly outside, went to the Baltic Sea and jump into it and a lot of other cool things. We had to be spontaneous because the weather can change every five minutes. Some of that were sport-activity or creative things. We lived together for 5 to 10 days and get to know us better each day.
I really enjoyed this time, where I met new people and see the eyes of the kind, full of joy, happiness, and fun.
All people who know me say that I have to do something with children, and I also know that this is my dream.
And the opportunity to bring all my interest together is this Au Pair year. I can take care of kids and also made a lot of new experience, to get to know a new culture, a new nature and a new climate. this is the next step I want to do.
Thank you for reading,
Larissa
