Letter to the family

My name is Riya, and I am a 19-year-old university student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Management Information Systems at Deakin University. Originally from India, I moved to Australia in 2024 to further my education and experience life in a new country. Living abroad has been an eye-opening experience, teaching me resilience, adaptability, and the joy of embracing new cultures.
I want to become an Au Pair & Home Share companion in Italy because I don’t just want to see the world as a tourist—I want to truly live, explore, and immerse myself in different cultures. Coming from a country where this kind of experience is not very common, I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to do something different. I believe in YOLO—taking everything that life has to offer—and this experience is a way for me to discover new sides of myself.
I love meeting new people, observing different cultures, and understanding human connections on a deeper level. Though I consider myself an ambivert, I genuinely enjoy talking to strangers and learning from their experiences. Living with a host family, especially with the elderly, would allow me to not only provide companionship and support but also gain wisdom from their stories and perspectives. I am not sure where my career will take me, but I know I want to live life to the fullest, experiencing different ways of living and growing as a person.
In addition to being a great companion for the elderly, I would also make a caring and responsible caregiver for a child. I am naturally patient, attentive, and enjoy engaging with children in a way that makes them feel heard and valued. I understand that children need both structure and creativity, and I can balance being responsible while also making daily activities fun and enriching. I am adaptable and can handle different situations calmly, ensuring a safe and positive environment for the child. My curiosity and willingness to learn also mean I am open to embracing your family’s parenting style and cultural traditions, making me a supportive and reliable part of your home.
You should consider hosting me because I am responsible, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a warm and caring home environment. I have experience balancing work, study, and independent living, which has strengthened my ability to take responsibility and handle everyday challenges with patience and dedication. More than just offering assistance, I hope to bring positivity, energy, and meaningful companionship to my host.
I qualify for this position because I am kind, open-minded, and willing to embrace new experiences. I am comfortable assisting with household tasks, daily routines, and emotional support. My ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and my genuine curiosity about cultures make me a great fit for this role.
I would love the opportunity to be a part of your home, share experiences, and create meaningful connections. I look forward to hearing from you and learning how I can contribute to your household.
warm regards

Experience

While I have not yet formally worked as an Au Pair or Home Share companion for the elderly, I have gained valuable life experiences that make me well-suited for this role. Living independently in a foreign country has taught me responsibility, patience, and adaptability—qualities that are essential when caring for someone in a home environment.

I have always had a deep respect for elderly individuals and enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations with them. Growing up, I spent time with my grandparents, assisting them with small tasks and learning the importance of patience and understanding. My ability to connect with people of different ages and backgrounds makes me a great companion, whether through shared conversations, helping with daily routines, or simply offering company and emotional support.

Additionally, my time in Australia has strengthened my problem-solving skills and ability to handle new challenges with a calm and proactive approach. I am comfortable managing household tasks, following routines, and ensuring a positive, comfortable living space.Becoming an Au Pair & Home Share companion for the elderly abroad is more than just a job for me—it is a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture while making a real difference in someone’s life. I believe in experiencing life beyond just being a tourist; I want to truly live in a new country, observe different cultures, and connect with people on a deeper level.

Coming from a country where such experiences are not very common, I see this as a rare chance to step outside my comfort zone and grow as a person. Living with and caring for an elderly host would allow me to learn from their experiences, understand their culture firsthand, and develop a sense of belonging in a new environment.

I also love engaging in meaningful conversations and learning from different generations. I believe that elderly individuals have incredible wisdom and stories to share, and I would be honored to be a part of their daily lives. This experience will not only help me develop valuable life skills but also shape my perspective on human connections, cultures, and traditions.

In the end, I don’t know exactly where my career will take me, but I know that I want to live life fully, embracing every opportunity to learn and grow. Becoming an Au Pair & Home Share companion in a different country is a perfect way for me to do just that.
