Letter to the family

Hi! My name is Adele. I’m a 17-year-old student currently completing my final year of high school in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2026, I plan to take a gap year and would love the opportunity to become an au pair in France.

I’ve always had a strong passion for the French language and culture, inspired in part by my French relatives. I also love caring for children, and thanks to my warm and outgoing nature, I find I connect with them very easily. I have experience babysitting young children and feel confident looking after kids aged one and up. I’m currently studying French at school and spent three weeks in France on a school trip in 2024. I would describe my French as intermediate, and one of my goals during this experience is to become more fluent by fully immersing myself. I’m friendly, reliable, and organised, with many interests and hobbies I’d love to share with your children, including cooking, baking, crafts, and sports.

Experience

I have been babysitting as a job on and off for about 3 years, I have one family that asks me regularly to look after a 7 year old child and watch his 2 older siblings who dont need as much attention, as well as this I have done quite a few other odd babysitting jobs less regularly. I also have a looked after my little cousin semi indepdantly for a week in Sydney when she was 5, this included cooking for her and doing activities with her from usually about 8am to 6pm and I have other young cousins including a 1 year old who I spend lots of time with.

One of the biggest reasons I want to become an au pair is to fully immerse myself in the French language and hopefully become more fluent. I also love French food and culture, and I’m excited to experience everyday life in France. Living in France has been a dream of mine since I was very young, and I believe being an au pair is the perfect way to achieve that, especially since I truly enjoy spending time with children
