Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Izzy, I’m 23 years old and currently living in the UK. For the past six years I’ve been working as a qualified dental nurse, a role that has given me a wealth of experience in caring for people of all ages- including looking after children during their dental visits and making them feel comfortable and safe.

At the start of 2025, I went on a solo backpacking trip through South East Asia. That journey opened my eyes to how much I love travelling and connecting with people from different backgrounds. Coming back to the UK has only deepened my desire to experience more of the world and live a more free, adventurous life.

Alongside my dental career, I’ve regularly babysat for local families and spend a lot of time looking after my younger cousins. Caring for children comes naturally to me, and I really enjoy helping them feel happy, safe and engaged.

I’m drawn to the au pair experience because it combines everything I value: caring for others, immersing myself in new cultures, building genuine relationships with families and their children, and living more freely than the routine of the UK allows. I would love to support your family and bring warmth, reliability and kindness into your home.

Why choose me? Healing and caring for others is truly in my nature. In addition to my dental nursing background, I’m also a trained Reiki healer, which reflects how much I value wellbeing and creating calm, positive environments. For the past six years I’ve practiced helping people feel at ease, relieving stress, and supporting them through sometimes anxious situations- skills I could bring to your household.

I believe I qualify for an au pair position because:

Experience

I have built up extensive hands-on experience caring for children. Alongside my six-year dental nursing career- where I regularly look after and reassure children during their dental visits- I have done babysitting jobs for local families and spend a great deal of time caring for my younger cousins. This has taught me patience, responsibility and how to create a calm, positive environment for children.

Although I have not yet formally worked as an au pair or nanny, these experiences have given me many of the skills and qualities needed for the role. I am now excited to begin my au pair journey and would love to do so abroad.

Travelling solo through South East Asia at the start of 2025 showed me how much I enjoy discovering new cultures, meeting people from all walks of life and living more freely. Becoming an au pair overseas feels like the perfect way to combine my love for caring for children with my passion for travel, cultural exchange and supporting families.
