Letter to the family

Hello!

My name is Gia, I am an 18-year-old from Missouri, United States, and I would really love to be your au pair! I am looking to care for is 2 children, aged 3-14. Most of my childcare experience is from after-school programs, daytime camps during the summer, and minimal at-home care, but I’d really like to get into more in-home care through being an au pair. I believe there’s a first time for everything!

I’d also like to expand my Spanish knowledge as I’ve studied the language for over 4 years, and my Korean knowledge, as I've studied that language for over 2 years sporadically.

I like to think of myself as someone who has a bunch of cultural aspects to share! I grew up in an urban/suburban environment with southern relatives, so I was raised with important southern values of respect and equally important urban values of finding diversity through sharing culture. I love music, talking about sports like baseball, cheerleading, and figure skating, and doing new things!
I’ve worked with kids sporadically and mostly in after-school care, during summer camps, and while tutoring, but I’d like to venture into the world of at-home care as an au pair. As for tutoring, I’ve taken extensive courses in Spanish language, World history, World government, Asian history, Math, and English. If you have any questions, please ask!

Experience

Most of my childcare experience is from after-school programs, daytime camps during the summer, and minimal at-home care (babysitting), but I’d like to get into more in-home care through being an au pair. I started formal childcare when I was 14, and I had a few bad in-home care experiences, so I focused on day camps during the summertime for my Cheerleading team and tutoring students aged 11-14. I want to reiterate that I am a first-time au pair, so I'd love to work with a family open to teaching the ropes of being an au pair, while also being gracious and understanding that every au pair will provide a different experience to a family.
