Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear au pair,

We are a family of four: Marco, Katharina, and our two children, Anton (5 years old) and Jan (2).

We live in Landshut, the capital of Lower Bavaria, which is very close to Munich (about 45 minutes by car or train). We live in a house with a garden and are just a few minutes by bike from the city center.

I (Katharina) work 20 hours a week, and Jan goes to a nanny during my working hours.

Anton attends a kindergarten very close to our house.

We are looking for an au pair who will primarily care for Anton, also look after Jan from time to time, and help with the housework.

You should be independent and enjoy making friends here and socializing.

You will be warmly welcomed into our family, and we look forward to learning more about you and your country.

You will be our fourth au pair. At 19, I went to Rome as a summer au pair and then to Milan for a year as an au pair. So I know your side of the relationship very well :)

Job Description

A typical day for you would look like this:
6:30/7:00 Wake Anton up, get him dressed, prepare breakfast and a snack, and take Anton to kindergarten.
7:30/8:00 - 1:00 p.m. Anton is at kindergarten, three times a week until 3:30 p.m.
1:00/3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Activities with the children (usually only one of the two children)
6:00 p.m. Dinner (help with setting the table and tidying up)
8:00 p.m. Bedtime (we'll put the children to bed, of course)

You would be responsible for Anton in the morning. I get up with Jan at 6:00 a.m. and leave the house with him at 7:00 or 7:30 a.m.
Anton's kindergarten is nearby, about a 5-minute walk (maybe 10 minutes with Anton).
Your job will also be to pick Anton up after kindergarten and do some activities with him, such as playing with a cat. For example, taking him to gymnastics or the playground, or maybe you have your own ideas for doing crafts or sports with him.
We also need help around the house. Emptying the dishwasher, vacuuming (we have a robot vacuum), changing and washing the children's bedding, doing laundry once a week, cleaning the bathroom approximately every two weeks, and tidying up and sorting toys.
You will almost always be home alone during the week, so you should be able to prepare your own lunch.
In the evening, we all eat together; you should help set the table and clean up afterward.

Accommodation

We live in a house with three floors, a basement, and a garden. Your room is approximately 15 square meters and is furnished with a large bed and a wardrobe. If you wish, we can also add a small desk or a small table with beanbags.

Our house is located in a quiet residential area. There is a large park next to our house. However, you can reach the city center in 10 minutes by bike or bus. Of course, you can bring your own bike.
