Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! Thank you for stopping by our profile.

We are a multi-cultural family – I (mother) am half German and half Japanese and grew up mainly in London, so I speak all three languages. My husband is British but has lived in Singapore and also in Japan, and is therefore fluent in English and Japanese.

We are both in the “entertainment industry”. I work as a radio DJ for a popular morning show in Tokyo, and my husband runs a comedy store, and is a regular performer there, too. He also has always been in the gaming industry, and still advises companies in that field too.

Now… we lead busy lives. I absolutely love spending time with our kids and my schedule centrals around them, but there just are the occasional events in the evenings that I have to attend to keep my career in motion, for example.
Having someone reliable that can be available in the busy hours of the evenings in particular (around 16:00-20:00) would make our lives a lot smoother. Tasks may include things like support shopping for groceries, picking up the kids, helping with cooking, and generally spending meaningful time with them by going to the park or reading books.

One of our big goals is that our children learn to speak German.

As this is our first time looking for an au pair, we would love to discuss details further for a mutually beneficial agreement. Thanks :-)

Job Description

We would love someone who is interested in food/cooking, and in particular healthy cuisines. We do not eat meat at home (we do eat fish), and while that is not a requirement for you to follow, we would like your support in grocery shopping and preparing meals.

We aren’t often both away in the evenings, but may require you to put both to bed at times when our schedules clash. Help in keeping them entertained in the park or by reading books etc (and teaching them Germany naturally!) would allow us to get on with household tasks, or vice versa.

Accommodation

We live in a 3-bedroom house in Tokyo – 5 minutes to the nearest station, which is very well connected to central Tokyo (around 15 minutes to Shibuya/Harajuku, and also 15 minutes to Yokohama, which can then take you across Japan on the bullet train).

You will have a room to yourself upstairs, which is where all our bedrooms are. There is a toilet upstairs that we would share. Bathroom (bath tub and shower) as well as another seperate toilet are downstairs, and that is also shared.

Our local area is quiet and residential, with 3 supermarkets within walking distance. We have access to beautiful green parks, too, which is quite rare for Tokyo.
