Dear Host Family,

It gives me a great pleasure that you can read my letter. I would like to start by introducing myself to you. My name is Aileen. I am 22 years old and I am studying the sixth semester of Social Communication major. Currently, I live in the city of Baños de Agua Santa, known as “A Little Piece of Heaven” in the beautiful country of Ecuador, in the Middle of the World.

I consider myself a very brave, cheerful, charismatic, sweet, sincere, and generous person who always finds a reason to smile. I am one of those people who like to help others, preserving the good values and principles that my parents have instilled in me.

One of the characteristics that most represents me is solidarity. I have learned that the most important thing is to stay in the here and now; and, through my heart full of love, reach many children and implant love, understanding and tenderness in them. And that is why, since I was fifteen years old, I have dedicated myself to taking care of children, whom I consider to be beautiful angels.

Since I was four years old, one of my greatest passions has been singing. In addition, another of my great tastes has been dancing, and one of my great dreams has been acting, cinema and the world of modeling. One of my hobbies is walking on the wonderful trails in the magnificent mountains that surround the beautiful city of Baños de Agua Santa. I also like doing dance therapy to maintain a healthy and energetic life. And also to exercise and go swimming.

Finally, I would like to tell you that I am a lover of communication. I have had the opportunity to work in some radio stations in Baños de Agua Santa, conducting youth programs and reading the current news. Also, since I like television and film, I had the opportunity to study acting and film at a prestigious Academy in Los Angeles, California.
Regarding my experience in driving cars, from a very young age my dream was to have a car like the barbies, and thus explore the world. When I was 17 years, I drove my father's car. I liked to practice driving in the Yahuarcocha lagoon, since car racing competitions are held there, where, in other times, some relatives of my grandfather participated. Since then, the world of cars caught my attention, and I have been driving alone since 2018.

Now I would like to talk about my experience in taking care of children. As I mentioned earlier, I started babysitting when I was fifteen years old. The first girl I took care of is called Amalís, and she was two years old. Then, I had the chance of adding experience to my childcare by helping some of my relatives with their children.

When I was eighteen, I had the opportunity to take care of three beautiful girls in New York, two of them twins. I loved this job, because it gave me the chance to take care of really cute girls who were Rachel and Joyce. They were two years old, and Eileen, the third girl, was four years old. I was in charge of feeding them, bathing, changing diapers, changing clothes, preparing some healthy meals, playing games and teaching some Spanish to them. In San Diego, California, I also took care of an eleven-year-old girl named Isabella for about 5 months. I helped her with her school homework, prepared some snacks for her, and I also taught her some Spanish, among other activities. Then, back in Ecuador, I took care of children who did homework-at-school in the afternoons, in a school in Baños. Their ages were from 6 to 12 years old. The great experiences shared with each child have left a great imprint and learning in my heart.

The experiences, anecdotes and occurrences of the children have left me several memories, which I will keep with great joy and affection towards my children. I clearly remember when I used to play with the twin girls that I took care of in New York, and I had to teach them to share everything the same, as they liked to dress the same, eat exactly the same and have the same utensils; and, at first, it was difficult for me to identify who was who, but each one retained a different essence. There I also learned to know how to act with caution, in the face of little girls' fights, their games, their laughter, and adventures. Without a doubt, each boy and girl have a special heart, where father and mother must transmit their great love within the home, providing a childhood full of trust, understanding, respect, and tenderness.
The reason why I would like to continue being an Au pair is because I would like to gain experience and share with the culture of an American family, who could be sure to count on me because, I think I am a candidate who can be considered as one more daughter as part of the family, giving the best care to children as the highest priority; facilitating, in addition, an atmosphere of peace, harmony and much love. Along with this, also preserving the good values and principles from the home.
