Au Pair in Ireland: contract and insurance
Contract and insurance are important documents for a safe stay abroad. In this post, we will look into all the paperwork and how to manage it.The Au Pair contract
The contract is one of the most important milestones of the program. It is helpful for an efficient cooperation between the Host Family and the Au Pair and the visa application, if the participant needs one.
You can download the Au Pair contract template and modify it according to your needs. The following points should be mentioned in the contract:
- Accommodation
- Schedule
- Working hours
- Time off & holidays
- Wages
- Responsibilities
- Travel costs
- Language course, etc.
Termination of the contract
There might be situations, when both Host Family and Au Pair can’t find common ground and improve their relationship. In this case, you might consider a termination of the contract. Both parties need to be given two weeks notice in this case, during which they will try to find a new option.
The Au Pair Insurance
The insurance is one of the most important points on every Au Pair’s to-do list. Have a look below on how to sort this matter in no time and who should take care of it.
EU-citizens
Even if the participant already has an insurance plan in their homeland or has an EHIC, we recommend using an additional insurance company, as the EHIC does not cover the costs of all medical services and often the family needs to cover the difference.
If the Au Pair needs any additional insurance, they will have to choose one of the local alternatives in Ireland or a private insurance from their home country.
Non-EU citizens
As the Au Pair will need the insurance for the visa application for Ireland, they will need to choose one of the plans from their home country or online options. Although there is no obligation for the Host Family to pay for it, we recommend the Au Pair to ask to the Host Family if they are willing to share the costs.
Regardless of the participant’s citizenship, we have partner companies that offer an economic and trustworthy insurance option. Read about Dr. Walter and Care Concept companies.
