learn english There are obviously many reasons to learn English. It’s one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and it influences many cultures. Besides you might already know a lot of English words since they are often a part of your native language.

Just think of words like selfie or shopping. Moreover being able to speak English only offers advantages for you and can even improve your way of living. For example it enables you to work as an Au Pair in the UK, USA and Australia.

So here you find the five ultimate reasons to learn English.

1. It’s easy to start with

If you’re interested in learning English, there are more than enough resources to start with this language. No matter if online, with a book or a language partner - you will find the right learning method for you.

Furthermore English for beginners is quite easy. For example you only need one article which seems much less intimidating than German! However this doesn't mean that English can’t be tricky sometimes. Ever wondered why some words are spelled almost identically but pronounced in a completely different way? Just think of words like through, tough, thought and though.

Easy, right? Staying as an Au Pair in an English speaking country is the best way to learn English in any case.

2. Read Shakespeare in the original version

English is not only the world language - it’s also the language of literature.

Shakespeare might be the most famous example of English literature. In addition Jane Austen, George Orwell and Aldous Huxley are also known as classical writers. But Britain’s not the only country with brilliant writers.

America got Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway for example, and did you know that Margaret Atwood is Canadian in fact? Nowadays the Aussie writer Markus Zusak is very popular for his worth reading bestseller The book thief

You see, there is a wide range of literature for you to learn English. And you can also write a nice letter to your future Host Family yourself and make your Au Pair profile more appealing!

3. Enter the modern world

In the world wide web you can find most of the present available knowledge. In case you need any information (for example how to become an Au Pair) you will always find the answer in English.

Even many bloggers and influencers who are from different parts of the world decided to provide all of their texts or videos in English. Also with a good level in English you will understand every song you hear in the radio and you will be able to watch your favourite British or American TV series - without distracting subtitles.

4. Access to education

Yale, Cambridge, Princeton - maybe you know the names of the American and British elite universities. But you don’t need to go to fancy universities to have access to education.

Moreover it’s a first good step to learn English to gain even more knowledge. Perhaps you don’t know your future favourite book - because there isn’t a good translation of it yet. Or you could receive a wider range of news and informations if you were able to understand English.

Furthermore it would enhance the chance that you understand your Host children better. Do you really want to miss out on all of these potential view changing opportunities? We don’t think so!

5.  English connects people

Imagine a world where every person is equal and can communicate with each other - without any barriers. By learning English this dream comes true. Wherever you want to work as an Au Pair, almost everywhere you can share special moments and thoughts with English speaking people.

Sometimes being able to communicate in English on a basic level is even the condition to receive a visa. If your English isn’t perfect don’t worry: Most people in the world learn English as their second language. So, speaking with an accent isn’t embarrassing, it’s rather charming and reflects the linguistic mosaic of the world.
