Letter to the family
Hey, my name is Liane. I'm a Christian, 18 years old, and live near Leipzig, Saxony, Germany.
As a family, we've moved several times, which, even as a child, presented me with the challenge of always being "the new kid." It definitely wasn't easy for me, and I'd describe myself as more of an introvert. But I want to grow beyond myself and not always be in the shadow of my older siblings (which is sometimes my fault), step out of my comfort zone, and face new challenges.
I'm a member (and regularly attend) of an Evangelical Free Church congregation. There, I regularly (since August 2024) lead the Sunday children's group with children ages 1-7. This work takes up a lot of time and is sometimes stressful, but I love it.
I've been thinking about taking this step and becoming an au pair for a long time. My team, where I'm training, has grown very dear to my heart over time, but I think becoming an au pair after my training is the right path for me. I want to see some of the world and face new things. I think I have to take advantage of this opportunity now, while I don't have any obligations here yet.
----------
I grew up as the second youngest among five siblings. My parents' families are also large, meaning they have a large (typically Russian-German) family. Therefore, I've been used to having lots of children around me since I was a child.
Growing up in a Christian family, I personally decided to believe in God and Jesus Christ in the summer of 2024. I couldn't imagine a life without God and I practice my faith openly, but I don't force it on anyone. I respect everyone and treat everyone equally, regardless of what they believe or not.
I'm used to living with animals, and I love it. We currently have 2 dogs, (soon) 3 cats, chickens, bees, and squirrels.
I have 4 sisters, who have also become my closest friends. I enjoy doing various things with them, whether it's a concert, a girls' night out, or a vacation.
With our group of friends, we are also regular visitors to the Gewandhaus Leipzig (classical music). We enjoy singing and making music together, having campfires with stick bread followed by a night walk, or visiting friends abroad.
In my free time, I enjoy doing relaxing things. For example, I love reading. But I also like trying other things, like climbing in a ropes course or go-karting (which I'm absolutely terrible at :D ).
I'm currently training to be a notary clerk in Leipzig. I'm in my second year of training and will be taking my final exams next year, April/May 2026. Since I'll receive my exam results in July/August, I'd like to start my year abroad around August/September 2026.
