Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Rachel, and I am a 19-year-old student from Canada currently pursuing a double degree in Secondary Education and Chemistry at the University of Regina. I’m passionate about both learning and teaching, and I hope to eventually become a high school science and English teacher. In the meantime, I am looking forward to stepping into a new adventure as an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor.

I am drawn to this opportunity because it beautifully combines two things I care deeply about: working with children and experiencing life in a new culture. I love helping young people grow—whether that’s by supporting their academic learning, guiding them through daily routines, or just being a consistent and caring presence. As someone who grew up in a rural community and has worked in camp environments for years, I understand the value of patience, flexibility, and creating a warm, structured atmosphere where children feel safe and valued.

You should consider hosting me because I bring not only enthusiasm and responsibility but also relevant hands-on experience. I’ve worked as a cabin counsellor, activity leader, tutor, and support for students with diverse needs and backgrounds. My professional roles have taught me how to balance fun and learning, how to stay calm and organized in busy environments, and how to connect with children of all ages. I am also trained in first aid and certified in both "Respect in Sport" and concussion safety, so you can trust that your children’s well-being is my top priority.

I believe I am well-suited for the role of Au Pair and Live-in Tutor because I’m dedicated, proactive, and genuinely invested in helping children thrive, not just academically, but personally. I’m comfortable supporting screen-free households, encouraging outdoor play, and adapting to your family’s unique rhythms and values. I bring a kind spirit, a sharp mind, and a readiness to be part of your everyday life.

Thank you for considering me as a part of your family. I look forward to the possibility of sharing stories, routines, and meaningful moments together.

Warmly,
Rachel

Experience

While I have not formally held the title of "Au Pair" before, I have extensive experience working in childcare and educational support roles that closely align with the responsibilities of an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor. Over the past several years, I have worked as a cabin counsellor and activity leader at multiple summer camps. These roles involved caring for children aged 6 to 18, organizing daily routines, leading both recreational and educational activities, and ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of campers in diverse, often high-energy environments.

In addition to my camp experience, I currently work as a private tutor through a company. This role allows me to support high school students across a range of subjects, helping them build both academic skills and confidence. As a university student majoring in Secondary Education with a focus on Chemistry and English, I’m passionate about youth development and skilled in adapting instruction to meet different learning styles.

I would love to become an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor abroad because I see it as a meaningful way to combine my strengths in education and caregiving with my desire to explore new cultures. I’m eager to broaden my worldview, immerse myself in another family’s daily life, and contribute positively to their routines, whether through homework help, structured play, or shared experiences. Living and working abroad would allow me to grow personally and professionally while supporting children in a way that feels authentic, grounded, and purposeful.
