Letter to the family
Dear family,
My name is Aurora and I'm 19 years old. I am Italian and I live in beautiful Sicily, in Catania. I am a sweet, caring, willing girl, very thoughtful and practical at the same time, many of my friends also credit me with a great sense of humor!! My family consists of four people: my father, my mother, my younger brother Dario and myself. My parents both work in the school world, my mother teaches French in secondary school, my father taught history and philosophy and now works as a school principal. My brother Dario is nine years old and he is a little kid! What I like the most about him is that he is bright and smart. He always manages to make me laugh and, despite the years of difference, when I play with him I also get a little girl! I live in San Pietro Clarenza, in the province of Catania but my life takes place mainly in Milan because my University is located right in the center of the city. I attended the Linguistic High School in Catania and studied three languages (English, French and German). I also have language certifications: Delf B2 (French), Cambridge Advanced C1 (English), Goethe B1 (German). I would also like to be able to pass a Spanish certification because it is a language that I love and that I studied in college. I also worked as a receptionist at a hotel in Catania during the last summer. In my spare time, I like to watch foreign language movies or TV series to expand my vocabulary in the different languages I study. I like to read a lot, I often read in a foreign language, even if in this period I don't read much because of University commitments. I practiced different sports: volleyball, ballet and swimming, my favorite ones. For the moment, I don't practice a particular sport, I train at home in the evening when I finish my studies. Studying is very important to me, I study Interpretation and Translation at University. Another of my passions is the history of art, I like to look at a painting and try to understand what the painter wants to convey to me. When I travel, in fact, I love going to art museums. I play the flute and the piano, although I'm not very good! My brother and I are often alone at home because my parents also work in the afternoon. It's not a problem for me because I like to take care of him. I help him with his homework, especially in English! I often also take care of the dinner, according to my brother I am a good chef! I consider myself quite good with children and I like to make them laugh (when the situation calls for it, I can be a lot of fun!). I forgot to tell you about another of my great passions: travelling. Thanks to the exchange experiences that my high school gave me the opportunity to do, I visited beautiful cities like London, Weinheim, Marseille and Strasbourg. For me, these will remain unforgettable experiences of formation and growth. Unfortunately, I have never lived in a foreign country for more than a week and this is also one of the many reasons why I would love to have an Au Pair experience. I would like to dive myself in the culture of European and non-European countries, understand the differences and seize the similarities with my way of seeing things. In my opinion, it is an experience that goes far beyond learning a foreign language. For me, it could be an experience of personal and professional growth, aiming to understand the world in which I live but above all myself. I like challenges and show myself capable of face them. I have no preference for the country, I am a curious girl with a great desire to learn. Of course, I would very much like to do this type of experience in countries like UK, Canada or France, in order to deepen my linguistic and cultural knowledge. I am sure that an excellent host family will be able to involve me in their daily life and share with me what they like to do. I would like to establish a bond between us that goes beyond the simple working relationship; as I said at the beginning, I am a very sweet girl and I get attached easily, especially to children!
I hope to find the right match for me and that you families can find the right Au Pair for you!
Thank you ️
