My name is Asanda, and I’m an 18-year-old young woman from South Africa with a big heart and a deep passion for working with children. I come from a warm, supportive family that has taught me the values of kindness, patience, and respect. Growing up in a close-knit community helped shape me into someone who is caring, responsible, and always eager to lend a helping hand.

I want to become an au pair or nanny because I truly enjoy spending time with children. I love their imagination, honesty, and energy. Being part of a child’s daily life whether it’s helping with homework, playing games, or simply making them laugh brings me joy and purpose. Becoming an au pair also allows me to experience a new culture, learn, grow, and build special connections with a family from anotherpart of the world.

Experience

I have gained valuable hands-on experience caring for children of different ages in my community. I’ve looked after my teacher’s two children (ages 5 and 8), where I helped with after-school routines, playtime, and keeping their space organized. I also cared for my neighbor’s newborn twins and 2-year-old, where I helped with feeding, diaper changing, soothing, and playtime. Additionally, I supported a church member by looking after her 4-year-old son, planning fun activities, reading stories, and providing a safe and loving environment.

Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong skills in childcare, patience, communication, and responsibility. I’ve learned how to connect with children, understand their needs, and make them feel comfortable and supported.I would love to become an au pair or nanny abroad because it gives me the chance to do something I truly enjoy working with children—while also experiencing life in a new culture. I believe this program will help me grow as a person, learn new things, and build lifelong connections. It’s more than a job to me it’s a meaningful journey of care, exchange, and learning.
