Letter to the family
Hi. My name is Jola and I am looking into potentially doing a Au-Pair year after I am done with my 2 years at my community college. I have completed my first year and continue to take more college classes during the summer in order to earn my credits faster and to get ahead. I have one more year to go and would then receive an Associates Degree in Business. After my second year which would be from 2025-2026 I would like to either do a study aborad or au-pair, if possible. I love to travel and explore new places. I kow that I do not want to continue living in my city forever. I personally think that it's boring to stay in the same place forever. I want to be able to move around and possibly find a city that I will want to move to. That starts with getting out of my comfort zone and doing things that no one has done that I know of. I have 2 older siblings and always loved kids even though I would always be the baby of the family. I have babysitted kids before getting a real job as a server. I started working because by parents said they will stop bying me things since I am old enough to get a job (I was 16). I am now 19 and have years of experience in customer service, retail and the food industry. My mother language is German and ever since I was 12 I learned english after moving to california. I took french for 5 years, so I am experienced in a third language too. When I recenly visited paris, I fell in love with it. Ever since then I was interested in doing a study abroad, now au-pair is also something I am interested in. Reason why I would want to become an Au-Pair is to be able to explore a new place while feeling secure living with a family. Often times, traveling by yourself would feel lonely, however a au-pair family would help with that. Getting used to a new family is difficult, but growing up, staying with other families for vacations or sleepovers, I have learned to be myself but enjoy it with new people. Learning from each other is a huge thing that I have learned from my past experiences. No matter who or how old, you can learn so much from someone you have never been around or even live with. Taking care of kids is stressful depending on their age. Sometimes kids have a stage where they are lovely and the next second they're unbearable. Even during unbearable times you can learn a lot from them. Why the candidate should host me is because I want to be able to make new experiences, live with new people, learn from them, be inspired, and make memories. My parents have always been very supportive of me, as long as it was something good, and I am hopeful to live with a family like that while being able to help arounf the house. Respect, caring and support is so important for me since that is what I grew up with, therefore I am hopeful to meet a family just like that too.
