Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Ana Emília, I’m 24 years old and I’m from Brazil. I recently graduated in Architecture, and now I feel ready to take on new challenges that allow me to grow personally and discover more about the world. Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to travel through Europe and the Americas, take part in an academic exchange program, and do volunteer work abroad. These experiences shaped who I am today, someone who is open-minded, adaptable, and passionate about human connection.

I want to become an au pair and nanny because I truly enjoy being around children and believe in the beauty of cultural exchange within a family environment. Although I don’t have formal experience in childcare, I’ve spent time looking after younger family members, and I’m eager to learn, help, and be present in a child’s daily life. I see this opportunity not just as a job, but as a way to connect deeply with another culture while contributing positively to a family’s routine.

What drives me the most in life is my passion for learning about new cultures and languages. I believe that each experience abroad brings a new way of seeing the world and myself. My main life goal is to find happiness in every corner of the world, through meaningful connections, shared stories, and everyday moments. Being an au pair feels like the perfect way to continue this journey.

Experience

Although I don't have formal experience as an au pair or nanny, I’ve had plenty of hands-on experience working with children. I was a scout for 10 years, and during that time, I assisted the leadership team in planning and organizing camps and activities for younger scouts. This experience taught me how to create fun and educational environments, manage groups, and handle different situations with patience and responsibility.

In addition, I’ve grown up with younger siblings and cousins, and I’ve always been involved in taking care of them, whether it was helping with homework, playing, or simply making sure they were safe and happy. I feel comfortable and confident in environments where I’m responsible for the well-being of children.

I would love to become an au pair abroad because I see it as an incredible opportunity to deepen my connection with children while learning about different cultures and languages. I’m excited to be part of a family’s life and to share my own experiences and background. I’m confident that my experiences with scouting and taking care of younger family members have prepared me to be a responsible, caring, and engaged au pair.
