Letter to the family

Hello, I'm Carly Isabel, though you can simply call me Bel! My passion lies in pursuing a career in a vibrant and creative industry. I find immense joy in immersing myself in the world of art, especially through the lens of kids as they perceive it with the most color.

My journey has led me through various experiences, from moving across the US, enchanting adventures working at Disney World, to guiding young minds in various art classes. However, it's in connecting with adventurous young spirits that I feel most fulfilled. Witnessing their boundless curiosity and imaginative expressions fuels my own creativity and reinforces my dedication to creating! Growing up, I shared a close bond with my older sister, shaping the foundation of who I am today. While I remain single, my heart is dedicated to my dual passions: the arts and teaching. My deep-rooted love for art is complemented by an extensive understanding of its rich history. I was born in Alabama and grew up both there and in Florida before moving to Laguna beach CA. Basically grew up outside playing 24/7.

I have been fortunate enough to make friends from all over! A lot are internet art and book friends. Working at Disney I made friends from many states and countries including a close Australian friend who currently resides in Edinburgh. Now living in Cali, I have even more people who inspire me from my art school and local meetings.

I graduate with my BFA in Drawing and Painting with an Emphasis in Illustration in May 2024. My degree technically has a minor in Art history given the credits I have taken but my school does not offer the minor as the courses were already mandatory. I hope to acquire my masters in art and my teaching certificate in the next few years. I homeschooled high school and graduated two years early because of this. I grew up in a magnet school which is a public school for the higher educated. We take tests to get accepted, retested every nine weeks from kindergarten until graduation. We also learn one to two years ahead, so first grade takes second and third grade material and so on. It sounds intense especially since if if you drop below a 3.0 gpa you get kicked out of the school, but it made me a very independent and adaptable learner!

I am vegan but can make any food for anyone. I did so my whole life until 17. My family and current roommates are not vegan so I have no issues there. Just personal diet choice. This does mean that I am good at discovering/learning specific allergy needs. I am also very creative with food and snacks!

Experience

Working at Disney World I was around kids everyday and enjoyed seeing their imagination thrive! Making magic at that job was such a fun experience. I then taught kids craft classes at my local art store. Currently I teach a 6 year old how to draw! I have a lot of younger family members that I watch and have fun exploring with! I am looking to teach kids art and kinds the way that I wanted to learn growing up. My fondest memory of my childhood was creating and discover my love for art! Whatever interests them comes first! I am such a kid at heart especially having lived and worked at Disney, one of my fondest memories there is how my roommates and I would watch Disney getting ready for work! Working at Disney World I was around kids everyday and enjoyed seeing their imagination thrive! Making magic at that job was such a fun experience, especially when I would find them gifts and show them tinker bell's route throughout the store.

Twin girls age 2 then turned 3 I watched and played with for a summer/fall season with my sister. Other kids and family members I babysat alone were 1, 2, and 5. Also like hanging out with my cousins ages 8-10, teaching them art, swimming, building forts, and having picnics! As the youngest family member on both my parents sides until I was 15, I have a very clear memory of the way I wished to have been treated as a kid. Now being the age I looked up to, it's nice getting to see kids react positively to the way I include them with no judgment.

My main intentions for becoming an Au Pair is to explore the arts scene in the UK while growing my experience teaching kids art!
