Letter to the family

Hi family! I’m Shanae, I’m 24 and from Melbourne, Australia.
I currently work in education recruitment, but I’ve always loved being around children, and want to get back into working directly with them. Over the past 9 years (prior to my current role), I’ve worked as a nanny, babysitter, done before and after school care and have lived in with families - so I know what it’s like to be part of a busy household and help out wherever needed!

I’m hoping to become an au pair because I really enjoy getting to know kids and being part of their everyday lives. I also love the idea of living somewhere new and experiencing a different culture... hopefully gaining an additional family from it.

I pride myself on being friendly, calm, nurturing and am truly passionate about children developing and reaching their milestones! I’m confident helping with routines, playing games, school runs, and just being a reliable extra set of hands when you need it. I’m respectful of your home and space, and always happy to help out however I can.

Experience

I’ve been working with children for the past 9 years from newborns through to teenagers (up to 14 years old)—and feel really confident supporting different stages and needs.

Some of my nanny roles have included full days from early morning starts (around 6am) through to evenings, helping with everything from breakfast and school prep to after-school activities, dinner, homework, and bedtime routines. I’ve also done school drop-offs and pickups, so I’m very used to being behind the wheel and on the go with children.

Outside of hands-on care, I currently work in education recruitment where I interview, hire, and place nannies into private homes. I also consult with families about what they’re looking for and mentor nannies on how to be confident, safe, and supportive in their roles. That part of my job has given me a deep understanding of what makes a great nanny-family fit and how to build trust in a home environment.
