Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Sabrina, I am 19 years old, and I come from Italy. I recently graduated from I.T.I.S. Alessandro Rossi, a respected technical high school in Vicenza, where I studied Computer Science. The school is well known for its strong focus on technology, problem-solving, and hands-on learning, and it has provided me with a solid academic foundation and a responsible, goal-oriented mindset.

I am very excited about the opportunity to become an Au Pair because I truly love connecting with people from different cultures and building meaningful relationships. I see this experience not only as a way to improve my language skills and learn about a new culture, but also as a chance to be part of a family, contribute positively to your children’s lives, and grow as a person.

I believe I would be a great Au Pair for your family because I am reliable, empathetic, and very patient. One of the most important experiences that shaped who I am today is being the older sister of a wonderful younger brother with Down syndrome. Growing up with him has taught me how to be understanding, attentive, and emotionally supportive. It has also given me the ability to adapt to different needs and situations with compassion and calm. This experience has deeply strengthened my caregiving skills and sense of responsibility.

I also have experience helping take care of my younger cousins and supporting them with homework and daily routines. I find joy in helping children express themselves, learn, and feel safe and loved.

I speak fluent Italian and English—English has been part of my education since preschool—and I also speak some French, which I studied in middle school and continued to practice thanks to my mother, who speaks it fluently. Additionally, I speak Moroccan Arabic due to my cultural background. I truly enjoy living in a multicultural environment, and I’d love to share this openness and diversity with your children.

In my free time, I play volleyball, a sport I’ve been passionate about since I was 9 years old. Being on a team has taught me the value of teamwork, commitment, and perseverance. I also have a strong interest in law and current events—I like staying informed and understanding how the world works, which reflects my curiosity and desire to keep learning.

I would be honored to be welcomed into your home and become a caring, responsible presence in your children’s daily lives. I’m confident that this experience will be as enriching for me as I hope it will be for you.

Thank you for considering my application. I hope to hear from you soon!

Warm regards,
Sabrina

Experience

Although I have not officially worked as an Au Pair yet, I have significant experience caring for children through my family life. As the older sister of a younger brother with Down syndrome, I’ve developed strong caregiving skills, patience, and empathy. From a young age, I have been involved in helping him with daily routines, communication, and learning activities. This has taught me how to adapt to different needs, stay calm in challenging situations, and always approach others with kindness and understanding.

In addition to this, I have often looked after my younger cousins, helping them with homework, playing with them, and assisting in their daily care when needed. These experiences made me realize how much I enjoy spending time with children and how fulfilling it is to support their development.

I would love to become an Au Pair abroad because I’m passionate about discovering new cultures and building genuine connections with people from different backgrounds. Living with a host family would allow me to fully immerse myself in a new environment, improve my language skills, and gain new perspectives. I believe this experience would help me grow personally and prepare me for future goals, including working in international environments or social fields where empathy, communication, and cultural awareness are essential.

Being an Au Pair means more than just helping with childcare—it means becoming part of a family, sharing traditions, and creating lifelong memories. That is exactly the kind of meaningful experience I am looking for.
