Letter to the family

Dear host family,
My name is Ananya and I am looking to become an Au Pair in my gap year after finishing my studies. I am a very outgoing person and believe I will integrate well with your family as I thrive of meeting new people and exploring different cultures. I would say I have a very positive mindset and always willing to try new things. I hate being bored! However when I need to I can be mature and I am able to balance my responsibilities. I am passionate about everything I do and am a hard worker who likes to take initiative and always make the best out of any situation.
I have a big extended family who I am very close to and love working with children as I would say I am bubbly and caring. The reason I would like to become an Au Pair is to learn new things and practice my language skills. Also, an opportunity to be able to look after children and get to know them excites me. Hopefully, through spending time with my host family I can learn new skills and share my experiences. I am very organised and am willing to help around the house alongside my childcare responsibilities.

Experience

For as long as I can remember I have always been very nurturing and love looking after others. I have always looked after my younger cousins and enjoyed playing with them. I also have been babysitting (before covid) children between the ages 6-14 in my area for about 2 years. My main motivations for being an au pair is to take me out of my comfort zone while still doing what I love. Instead of baby sitting in my home town I would love to explore the world while still looking after children teaching them new things and learning from them. I love the innocence and curiosity children have and feel we can still learn from them. Last summer I volunteered at my local nursery where I looked after young children and children with disabilities. It really taught me to stay calm and quickly adapt to keep them safe while still having fun and playing with them.
I also took part in an exchange program at at school where my family hosted a student and her family then hosted me in Spain. It really helped me improve my Spanish but also helped me feel comfortable in unknown situations and etiquettes of being invited into another home and to respect their values. I learnt to communicate in other ways when sometimes I couldn't understand them and I believe these skills are transferrable in all countries with all languages. My experiences have prepared me to be a confident Au Pair but this will also be a challenging and exciting journey.
