Dear Future Host Family,

My name is James, I am 21 years old and originally from Michigan, USA. I graduated from Hastings High School in 2022 and have been working and studying since then. After high school, I worked full-time in landscaping for two years, then gained experience in an electrical apprenticeship before starting college. I am currently a full-time student and looking forward to the opportunity to become an au pair after this semester.

I have always enjoyed being around children and caring for them. From the age of 12 until 19, I regularly babysat my younger brother, and I also looked after my cousins throughout the years. Additionally, I volunteered at a nursing home, which gave me valuable experience in being patient, supportive, and attentive to others’ needs. These experiences taught me responsibility, flexibility, and how rewarding it is to provide care for others.

I want to become an au pair because I love the idea of combining childcare with cultural exchange. I am excited by the opportunity to become part of a family’s daily life, to support parents, and to create a positive and fun environment for their children. At the same time, I want to experience life in a different culture, meet new people, and broaden my understanding of the world beyond the United States.

I enjoy sports, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with others.
