Letter to the family

Dear future host family, my name is Inna. I'm a 23-year-old Russian American from Seattle with a lifelong love for languages, culture, and creating meaningful connections. I’m currently searching for a Spanish, Portuguese or Italian speaking family to join for a short-term au pair experience (ideally 2–5 months). This will be my first official time as an au pair, hence the short stay, but I bring years of experience with children of all ages from babies to the two energetic boys (ages 5 and 7) I’m currently babysitting this summer. I’ve worked as a full-time nanny, supported my younger siblings and cousins growing up, and regularly care for my niece (3) and nephew (10 months). I’m calm, intuitive, creative, and structured, the kind of person who can jump into a routine, bring a peaceful energy to the home, and keep things running smoothly while also keeping it fun. I’m looking for a warm, respectful family who truly values the cultural exchange side of this experience, not just someone to help with childcare, but someone to share life with such as sharing meals, stories, laughs, and daily routines. In return, I’ll bring clear communication, reliability, kindness, and a calm but confident presence in your home. I take my responsibilities seriously, but I also believe in balance! Sometimes we’re learning new words, or doing math, sharpening the mind … and sometimes we turn on cartoons, have snacks, and wind down and relax.
If you're looking for someone experienced, who has emotional maturity, and a grounded energy with kids, that's me! And while I take my role seriously, I also believe in work-life balance. I do best in environments where I can recharge on weekends or have 1-2 days off to explore, rest, and show up as my best self in a flexible household.
I’m especially drawn to Spanish- and Italian-speaking families because I’m passionate about language immersion and hope to continue improving my Spanish through real day-to-day life. I’d love to share my Russian American culture in return, and if your kids are curious about languages, I’m happy to teach and learn together. If you’re a family who values clear expectations, mutual respect, and a relaxed but enriching home life, we might be a perfect fit. And if that includes the occasional shared sangria after the kids go to bed… even better;) I’m happy to provide references upon request, and I look forward to connecting with a family that feels like the right match. Warmly, Inna

Experience

I’ve been surrounded by children my entire life, from helping raise my younger siblings to caring for my niece and nephew, to working as both a nanny and part-time babysitter for several families. I’ve learned to be nurturing, patient, creative, and calm in the middle of chaos. I genuinely love working with kids, but I also know that childcare is real work, and I value open communication, rest, and a healthy balance too.

Growing up as the oldest girl in a big family, I often helped take care of my siblings from driving them to school, sports, cooking meals, helping with homework, and being the go-to support system when our parents were busy or away. I also babysat my younger cousins for family date nights and always loved stepping into that “older sister-older cousin-auntie role.

In 2022, I worked as a full-time nanny for 3 (sometimes 4!) kids Monday through Friday, during the day and for occasional evening date nights. That role shaped me into the calm, quick-thinking, fun and confident caregiver I am today. I also started doing date-night sitting for other families, including one with a live-in au pair who I became good friends with.

Right now, I’m spending my summer babysitting two energetic boys (ages 5 and 7) a few times a week while their parents work. We do a lot of playing, learning, and laughing and of course building legos and blocks! I still do date-night babysitting about once a month for other families, and I’ve kept strong relationships with many of them.

One of the most meaningful parts of my life has been volunteering in Mexican orphanages since I was 11. I’ve been involved in mission work there for over 10 years, playing with kids, bringing donations, and singing or doing crafts with them. It taught me how to connect with children from all backgrounds, and it shaped my deep love for cultural exchange and language learning.

I’ve worked with all age groups from infants to tweens, and each stage brings something special. I naturally create structure, fun, and a feeling of safety wherever I go. I love teaching new words, playing outside, encouraging imagination, asking questions, teaching awareness and deep thinking, and being that trusted adult that kids can feel calm and open around.
Parents feel safe trusting me with their children because I’m not afraid to ask questions, communicate clearly, and do my best to match your parenting style. Whether we’re learning something new, being silly, or winding down with cartoons, I create an environment where kids feel both safe and free to be themselves.
