Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Lucy, I’m originally from Kenya but currently living in Barcelona. I’m so excited about the idea of becoming an Au Pair & Nanny, and I’d love to tell you a bit about myself and why I feel this would be such a meaningful experience for both of us.

I've always enjoyed being around children. There’s something really special about watching them grow, learn, and discover the world around them. I’ve spent time volunteering in a children’s home, which really opened my eyes to how much of a difference a kind, consistent presence can make in a child’s life. That experience, along with helping out with family and friends’ little ones over the years, made me realize that working with kids is something I genuinely love and feel naturally suited to.

Becoming an Au Pair & Nanny feels like the perfect opportunity for me. Not only do I get to do something I care deeply about (supporting and caring for children) but I also get to be part of a family, experience daily life in a different setting, and build real, meaningful connections. I don’t see this just as a job, but as a chance to be a positive, helpful presence in your home and your children's lives.

I would describe myself as calm, caring, responsible, and creative. I’m someone who believes in showing up for people, being reliable, and treating others with respect. I love cooking (especially when I get to share meals with others), being outdoors, doing creative activities, and spending quality time in simple, meaningful ways. I always try to bring a warm and steady energy, especially when caring for children.

I believe you should host me because I genuinely care I’m not just here to "watch the kids" but to support your family however I can. I understand the trust it takes to welcome someone into your home, and I take that seriously. You can count on me to be dependable, communicative, and kind.

After this experience, I hope to continue building a career that still allows me to work closely with children possibly in education, social care, or child development. Being an Au Pair is a step I’m truly excited about, and I know I’ll bring both heart and responsibility to the role.I'm pretty sure your family is going to have amaizing experience while engaging with me

Experience

I’ve had several meaningful experiences caring for children, both in volunteer settings and within families. One of the most important experiences for me was volunteering at a children’s home, where I spent time helping children with their daily routines, supporting them emotionally, and creating a safe, fun environment for them to feel comfortable in. That experience taught me a lot about patience, empathy, and how important it is to provide stability and kindness, especially for children who need a bit of extra support.

Outside of that, I’ve also cared for kids of different ages in more informal settings, such as helping friends and family with babysitting, organizing activities, preparing meals, and supporting bedtime and homework routines. These moments always reminded me how much I enjoy working with children, how naturally it comes to me, not forgetting seeing them grow.

What really draws me to becoming an Au Pair & Nanny abroad is the chance to combine my love for working with children with the opportunity to experience life in a different country and culture. I’m excited about being part of a family, sharing everyday moments, and contributing to a child’s growth in a meaningful way. At the same time, I look forward to learning from your family, adapting to new traditions, and being part of something special.

I believe that being an Au Pair is more than just a job; it’s about connection, support, and building a trusted bond with both the children and the parents. I’d love the chance to bring my experience, warmth, and reliability into your home while also growing personally and professionally through this amazing experience abroad.
