Letter to the family

My name is Brooklynn, and I’m originally from Vancouver BC, but I grew up in Calgary AB. I have always adored children, being that growing up I practically RAISING my 3 kid siblings. I connect with kids very well and find them creative, easy to understand and inspiring. I’m responsible and collected and very smart when it comes to “street smarts”. However that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have fun and not take life too seriously. Currently im still trying to find what my future purpose is and what I want to be 5 years down the line, so I figured a position like this might answer some questions or at least pass the time doing what I love until I decide. My experience with kids in various jobs and family situations would make me a great fit for this role.

Experience

While I have no experience being an Au Pair, I have a lot of experience with kids. I have 3 younger siblings aged 6, 7 and 12 and growing up I was a third parent to them. Not only that but I’ve been babysitting since I was 12. I practically BEGGED my parents to pay for a babysitting course so I could do what I loved- teaching and caring for kids. I volunteered at my church ages 13-15 as a youth leader until Covid shut our church down and funding was no longer available. However as soon as Covid restrictions loosened up I became a camp counselor at “Camp Kasota West” (Sylvan Lake, AB). I grew up going to this camp and it was an incredible full-circle moment. You take care of kids all summer ages 6-15 and it is such a joy in my life. I look forward to going back every year. In my free time I also help direct youth musicals at my old school (since I used to be a theatre nerd haha).
