Letter to the family

I grew up in the East Midlands with my older sister, father and mother. My mother is from Switzerland, so I can speak basic German and love exploring different cultures. I'm very artistic and love to craft and create various projects. My hobbies also include baking, history and art. My mother works at a special needs school, so I am aware of and comfortable with the variety of care some children may require. I spent 2 years volunteering as a young leader for Girl Guiding, specifically Brownies and Rainbows, and have also worked at my local cafe and pub. The restaurant is very popular with families of all shapes and sizes and dogs, so I'm very used to juggling plates and cleaning up messes. Most recently, I have been working as a part-time nanny in London while studying for a degree in costume design. My role includes collecting a 6-year-old boy from school, entertaining him at home, preparing dinner, and helping him with homework. Initially, He was shy, refusing to leave his room or interact without his mum's encouragement, but we've quickly become fast friends. His parents are Italian, and I love learning more about their culture and traditions.

Experience

In my current job, I regularly help a 6-year-old boy with reading and spelling homework. Both my parents have specialised teaching backgrounds, so I've grown up exposed to a wide variety of different techniques and methods.I thoroughly enjoyed my education, staying in school to complete my A-levels. I passed all of my GCSEs with grades above the equivalent of a C and have 3 A-levels, grades A*, A, and B. As a result, I am confident in teaching and helping children of all ages.

As a child, I loved the idea of being a reliable figure the younger children could look up to. As I've grown older, this interest has developed into one of teaching and sharing knowledge. I love to help others and gain satisfaction from working together to solve problems. This was especially clear during my days volunteering with Brownies and Rainbows, as the activities were themed around learning and were designed to foster interactive, collaborative thinking. Whilst in primary school, I struggled with maths and developed an intense anxiety towards the subject. Thanks to the dedication of my teachers and after-school lessons with older students, I gained back my confidence and went on to find enjoyment in the subject. It would give me immense personal satisfaction to help anyone struggling similarly. Furthermore, I love the energy and enthusiasm children have when approaching life; I want to share lots of fun and enjoyment with whichever family I meet
