Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Sebastián, and I’m from Spain. I’m an open-minded, responsible, and caring person who enjoys discovering new cultures and learning from people with different backgrounds. I’ve always believed that the best way to grow as a person is through real experiences; that’s one of the main reasons I’d love to become your Au Pair and Nanny.

Becoming an Au Pair represents much more than just working abroad for me. It’s an opportunity to combine two things I’m truly passionate about: caring for children and immersing myself in a new environment. I love spending time with kids because of their creativity, honesty, and curiosity; they constantly remind us how fun learning can be. I want to help them feel supported, safe, and encouraged to express themselves freely.

For the past two summers, I’ve worked as a camp counselor, guiding and supervising children in a variety of activities such as swimming, sports, and creative workshops. This experience taught me how to manage groups of different ages, stay calm under pressure, and make sure every child feels included and valued. I plan to return next year as a counselor again, since it’s a role I truly enjoy and one that has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

I believe your family should host me because I bring a calm, positive, and reliable energy into the household. I’m used to adapting to new environments and routines, and I take my responsibilities seriously. I would treat your children with patience and kindness, but also maintain the structure and consistency that help them feel secure. In terms of qualifications, I have hands-on experience caring for children through both my camp counselor work and family childcare. I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and I can communicate effectively with both children and parents. I’m also organized, dependable, and attentive, qualities that make me confident I can handle the daily tasks of an Au Pair with care and responsibility.

Experience

Although I haven’t officially worked as an Au Pair before, I have strong experience caring for children through my time as a summer camp counselor for two years, where I supervised groups of kids, organized games and creative activities, and made sure everyone felt safe and included. I also have experience looking after younger relatives, helping them with schoolwork, meals, and daily routines. These experiences have helped me develop patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm and positive in any situation.

I want to become an Au Pair abroad because I truly enjoy working with children and learning from them. Each child is different, and it’s rewarding to be part of their growth and help them feel supported and confident. At the same time, I want to immerse myself in a new culture, improve my language skills, and gain independence by living with a family in another country. I see this opportunity as a way to combine my love for childcare with my curiosity about the world and my desire to keep learning through real experiences.
