Letter to the family

My name is Weronika, and I am 24 years old. Ever since I was a child, I have always dreamed of going abroad. Tourist trips never fully satisfied me, because I have always wanted to have the time to build relationships with the people I could meet there. That’s exactly why I decided to study languages, choosing a degree in ethnolinguistics with English and French. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in intercultural communication and in how language shapes our perception of the world. This is why relationships with people from other cultures are so important to me. I love learning and discovering the world, and I would love to inspire others—especially the children I care for—to do the same.

Experience

I don’t have experience as an Au Pair abroad, but in Poland, I looked after three children for about three years. They were siblings aged 3, 10, and 12. I used to pick them up from school and take them there in the morning. I organized their evenings, helped them prepare for school, and put them to bed. Over time, my role also became that of an English tutor for the two older children. Now they are 16 and 14 years old and no longer need my care, but we still keep in touch.

Later on, I took care of a 2-year-old boy and occasionally his younger, one-year-old brother. My responsibilities included preparing small meals, bathing the children, putting them to bed, feeding them, and most importantly, organizing outdoor activities. We spent a lot of time in the park and on the playground. At home, we spent our free time reading their favorite books together.
