Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Lidiia, and I am from Russia, currently living in Vietnam. I am an open-minded, responsible, and caring person with a strong interest in languages, education, and intercultural exchange. I have been working as an English teacher for several years, teaching both children and adults, and I truly enjoy helping people grow and communicate.

I would love to become an Au Pair and Caregiver for the elderly because caring for others gives me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. I believe that kindness, patience, and empathy can make a real difference in someone’s everyday life. I enjoy creating a calm, positive environment and I’m always ready to listen, help, and share meaningful moments - whether it’s with children or elderly people who value companionship and attention.

My first experience with caregiving started when I was 15 years old. At that time, I took care of my grandparent who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. It was a challenge, but it taught me responsibility, compassion, and emotional strength. Later, I also volunteered with disabled children and elderly people, which helped me understand different needs and how to provide both practical and emotional support with sensitivity and respect.

I bring both professional and personal qualities that create a warm and safe atmosphere in your home. I am organized, respectful, and emotionally mature. My background as a teacher has taught me how to be patient, responsible, and attentive to others’ needs. I value open communication and cultural exchange - I would be happy to share my culture, language, and cooking while learning from yours.

I believe I am well-qualified for this position because of my experience in teaching, caregiving, and volunteering, as well as my strong language skills (English, German, Italian, and Chinese in progress). I am independent, adaptable, and used to living abroad, which helps me integrate easily into new environments. I don’t smoke, I lead a healthy lifestyle, and I always try to make my surroundings peaceful and harmonious.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I would be honored to become part of your family — to help, support, and share wonderful experiences together.

Warm regards,
Lidiia

Experience

My caregiving experience began when I was 15 years old, taking care of my grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. I was responsible for helping her with daily routines - reminding her to take medicine, assisting her with dressing, preparing meals, and keeping her company during the day. I also accompanied her on short walks, made sure she stayed hydrated, and created a calm and safe environment at home. Although it was emotionally challenging, this experience taught me patience, empathy, and consistency in care.

Later, I joined volunteer programs that supported disabled children and elderly people. My duties included helping with feeding, light physical exercises, reading aloud, organizing simple games, and offering companionship. I often spent time listening to their stories and encouraging them to stay active and positive. These activities helped me develop communication skills and emotional sensitivity.
