Letter to the family
Hello families!
My name is Zayra!! I am a 23 year-old from San Diego, California, USA. I graduated from UC Berkeley last year with a degree in Anthropology and Legal Studies. I am a marathon runner (I currently have a run streak of over 200 days) and an avid coffee drinker (I love lattes)! I enjoy moving my body as much as possible (I exercise a lot), taking photos to have memories to look back at, scrapbooking, museums, travelling, and going to farmers markets on weekends.
I have an extensive background working with children, both in professional and casual settings. I have always been fond of working with younger students and teaching. In high school, I volunteered at a local high school to read books to elementary students after school. I found this experience to be very enriching because they were learning while having fun at the same time! Since then, I have worked as a camp counselor with children between the ages of 5 through 12. I am currently working as a Summer Science Program Lead for a non-profit organization in my community that aims to show students of all ages about marine science and how to become science leaders! We recently came back from Mexico, where we engaged in scientific research and did many fun, outdoor activities, where I got the opportunity to lead and assist many of those activities.
Additionally, my eldest sister has three children, ages 10, 12, and 14. The eldest one currently lives with us. I always make the joke that he is actually my son because he is always with me. I grew up taking care of all three children. I would cook for them, help them with their homework, take them out to the park and beach, watch movies with them, and so much more!
Through my professional and casual experience of taking care of children, I am confident that I can do the same for your children! I am a fun, outgoing, athletic, enthusiastic individual. I love to prepare meals, clean, and maintain an active lifestyle. I am patient, kind, empathetic, a good listener, flexible, and a reliable individual. I speak Spanish and English fluently. I would love to teach your children (and yourself if you're interested) either of the languages, and would also love to learn any additional languages that your family may speak at home. Although I am a very independent person who needs minimal attention or supervision, my goal is to be an adopted member of your family. Nothing would make me happier than to help out in all ways possible.
I promise you that I am an awesome individual!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me! I would love the opportunity to chat with you to see if we are a good fit. I am willing to start as soon as possible and be there for as long as you need me!
