Mia (26 / Ms. ), American, Student living in Sweden looking for Au Pair & Nanny job in Italy & Sweden for 6-24 Months

My interest in being a nanny & Au-Pair is whole-heartedly driven by my love of children and the joy I feel in getting to guide them and be a part of their most formative years. I have been babysitting since I was 14-- having attended boarding school, I always babysat for teachers on campus, from newborn babies to 10-year-olds. I've continued babysitting throughout my time in college and even during my time studying abroad in Italy! I also had a full-time nannying job for the summer of 2021 and cared for a sweet 2 year old boy everyday.Though there was no education major at my university, I have always loved working with children and find myself always gravitating towards jobs and volunteer-work that centers around children or education. I have my CPR and First Aid certification and also have my TEFL certification that allows me to teach English as a second language.

While I have the privilege of caring for children, it is so important for me to foster their imagination and to give them the space to create, dream, and process emotions while holding space for them to do so safely in a loving environment. My number one priority is always making sure the child is safe at all times, while also continuing to nourish their sense of curiosity about the world around them. As an educator and a musician, my biggest strengths are my patience and creativity. No matter how tense the situation may be, I am able to remain calm and steady which I find is very helpful in demonstrating how to regulate my own emotions, and gives the child more room to express themselves without fear of how I may react. I also love introducing music and different art forms to the children I’m working with as tools for expression and find them so helpful in creating some sort of structure in their day. I’m comfortable with helping younger ones with reading and speaking as well, and find using music is especially helpful with that endeavor.
