Dear future host family,

My name is Fern, and I come from Thailand. I’m 22 years old, and I grew up in a warm, close-knit family. I recently finished my degree, and now I’m ready to take on a new chapter of life—one that allows me to grow, explore, and give something meaningful in return.

Becoming an au pair is more than just a way to travel or learn a new culture for me. It’s about connection. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children—playing with them, learning their world, and helping them feel safe and understood. Experience

I didn’t grow up in anything fancy. I’m just a regular girl from a small town in Thailand, raised with lots of responsibility, especially as the oldest child in the family. I’m used to being the one who takes care of things—even when no one asks—because that’s just how I’ve always been. Quiet, steady, and maybe a little too responsible sometimes.

I worked as a schoolteacher before, and while I taught in the classroom, I also handled things outside the classroom—like taking care of kids when they were sick, giving first aid, or staying behind when something went wrong. It wasn’t a big heroic thing. It was just… someone had to do it. And that “someone” was often me.

I’m not perfect at English yet, and I know there are people who speak it way better than I do. But I’m learning. I try hard. I listen. I care. And I believe that matters.

I want to be an au pair because I want to grow—not just from books or language apps, but by living real life with real people. I want to be part of a family’s everyday life. I want to help, support, and be someone the kids feel safe with. I don’t need everything to be perfect. I just want something real.

I may not be the loudest or the most confident person in the room, but I show up, I do what needs to be done, and I bring kindness with me. That’s what I have to offer.
