Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

** LOOKING FOR OUR NEXT AU PAIR TO JOIN US APRIL 2024 **

Hello! Welcome to our profile :) We are a family with 2 young children living in the west coast of beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We currently have an Au Pair whose contract will be over in May 2024. We are now searching for someone who would fit well and be a part of our little family starting at the very earliest April 2024! We want to be able to share our home and build a relationship with the right person who will be a new addition to our family. We value honesty, trust and communication in our household :)

Job Description

Expectations of our au pair: she must be mature, proactive, respectful, responsible, clean, accountable, safe, trustworthy, kind, open to learning and be a part of our family. We hope that an au pair will be a good role model for our children as well, as they will be spending a lot of time with them.

We are looking for an au pair to work max 30hrs a week and currently act as a mother's helper. This means helping to take care of the eldest child- getting them up and ready for the day, helping with meals, cleaning up and spending time with them during their activities. She would be assisting the mother in daily tasks which will include light housekeeping- keeping your room and children's room tidy & helping with laundry. There may be weekends or evenings where the parents will want to go out for date night- babysitting rate of pay will be provided if this goes over the work times. We will also be providing weekly monetary allowances which will be discussed.

A typical day:
Father leaves for work at 6am and will return home around 4pm.
Children both wake up at 7-7:30am. Both are changed and ready to have breakfast around 8am. Children are dropped off to day care three times a week by 8:30-9am. Otherwise, we spend the morning hours doing activities- going to the mall, visiting a farm, go to the swimming pool, go for a walk or a nearby park, play outside in the yard. If indoors, we watch some TV, read books or have art activities.
Naps are important and usually happen around noon or after lunch. During this time I do light housework, check emails, watch tv or just have some quiet time.
Afternoons we either stay home or go out to run errands or get out of the house.
Dinner happens around 6pm and then the children are in bed by 8:30pm

On weekends we like to try and sleep in :) Make a big breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. We like to plan family outings or trips out of town when the weather is nice or if time permits. We do like to travel at least once a month to Victoria, British Columbia which is on an island!

Open & honest communication is highly valued in our family… if you have a question or you are unsure, please ask!

Accommodation

We live in a large townhouse that is situated on a plateau of a mountain. Our place is surrounded by lots of forests, schools and hiking trials! It is a very quiet neighbourhood with many families living in our area. It is close to transit and there is easy travel to other nearby cities- 30 mins from downtown Vancouver!

You would have a large spacious room to yourself with a window and a quiet street view on the second floor of our house. A shared bathroom with the children. Our complex has access to a small gym and swimming pool. We have a small yard in the front that is enclosed as well as a balcony at the back with beautiful view of the city and the mountains :)
