Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair,

We are a Dutch-German couple, Iris and Pieter Sjoerd, with our son Elias, born in September 2017, and our daughter Hannah, born in July 2020. We are both working for Hamburg University starting. Iris does economics, and Pieter philosophy.

We are looking for an au pair for the period September/October 2024 - June/July 2025.

Job Description

Elias and Hannah go to school and child-care during the day, but have to brought and fetched. Your main task will be to spend time with the children, play with them, read to them, or go for a walk with them. We have a cleaning lady, but the au pair should also be prepared to help a little in preparing meals or keeping the house tidy. It would be great if our future au pair were already to have some experience with babysitting small children. We already had very good experiences with one Dutch, one Italian and one Spanish au pair. The au pairs have really become part of our family, and they keep visiting us regularly. Our children grow up bilingually with Dutch and German, so it would be great if the au pair were to speak one of these two languages.
If you want to visit a German language course, we will reimburse you for a substantial part of the costs.

Accommodation

In Hamburg we live in a beautiful apartment on the top two floors of an apartment building in Eimsbüttel, 15 Minutes walking to Elias' school. Eimsbüttel is very green, but also very lively with many cafés, bars, and shops. It is also close to the city center. Hamburg is a really big big city, with lots of water and trees, and of course the harbour. There are many places to go to for culture or going out.

You will have your own room, with lots of light, your own wardrobe, and your own bathroom.

We are looking forward to meeting you,

Iris & Pieter Sjoerd
