My university is known for their international Erasmus+ programs, and the quantity of international students we receive every year. Because of that, many of my best friends are from other countries like Bulgaria, Venezuela, U.S.A and the UK. They often talked about how enriching it was for them to live in another country, specially one they had a previous interest in, as it helped them learn about themselves, try new things and meet amazing people they never would’ve had they stayed home. Now that I have my degree, before starting my master’s in September, I thought it was the perfect time to do it.
I took an interest in childcare once I received requests to help family friend’s children with their English and other subjects. The main issue was they were growing a dislike for the languages, as they weren’t being taught how to learn correctly and rejected it. I think English, and any language, is an amazing tool that opens the world around you, and it’s my focus as an educator to help them love learning through a healthy relationship with their learning styles and personalities. I began nannying after school as well, and it was such a wonderful experience that I decided to dedicate more of my time to it. Therefore I started my volunteering with Red Cross, and evenings at the center with the children filled my days with laughter and learning about myself through them. I loved helping them grow their confidence, improve their grades and solve conflicts in a healthy way. We like reading, playing and crafting together, and I must admit most of the times they win at sports I didn’t let them on purpose!
