I am being an au pair to create a new family away from home, become a big sister to the children, be a part of their lives, and also to be an extra pair of helping hands to my host family.

Being an au pair is one of the greatest opportunities for me, because it is a chance of a lifetime to fully immerse myself in the local culture, learn a new language, meet new people, build a meaningful relationship, and create lifelong memories with my host family.

Currently, I’m an au pair taking care of an adorable 2-year-old girl. We bonded so quickly after we first met and I absolutely adore her. Helping my host family taking care of her has taught me a lot of things about young children.

As their au pair, my duties included:
• ensure the child’s safety
• help the child take baths and dress up
• prepare simple meals and snacks
• entertain with fun activities (e.g. drawing, doing puzzles, going to playground)
• tidy up play areas and child’s room
• get the child ready for bed

Also, I spent my childhood being the babysitter to my younger brother, cousins, nieces, nephews, and children in my neighborhood with ages ranging from 3 to 12 years old.

During my college years, I was also a tutor for middle school students with special needs through a volunteer program where I helped them with their homework and organized educational games for them every week.
