Dear Host family,

My name is Carlotta, I am from Italy, and I have just turned 23.

I live in a little town in the south of Italy called Rende, in Calabria. It is a fairly quiet place, surrounded by the mountains of Sila, where I sometimes love going with my dad to get some fresh air. However, Rende is also home to UNICAL, the University of Calabria, then the area is most of the time bubbling with lots of students coming from different parts of the region.

I am currently studying Philosophy and History at university, and I am about to achieve my Bachelor's Degree soon.
With regards to my previous studies, I attended High School Specializing in Classical Studies, and I got the relevant Diploma in 2018.

I will attend a Philosophy Master’s Degree in the Uk after the completion of my undergraduate studies, therefore, while waiting to undertake the postgraduate course, I believe the experience as an au pair would help me to raise some money to partially fund my studies, but above all, grow as a person.

I live with my mum and my grandmother, my parents are separated, but I still have a mostly nice relationship with my dad, who is a retired university professor, and lives in the same neighborhood as us.

I love playing the piano, and I can do it really well. I started studying it at 11 years old, when I was in middle school, because my school offered an after-school music class, and I enjoyed it so much that a few years later I asked for admission to the local Conservatory, in Cosenza, and I got in. I studied there for 5 years, until I I decided to interrupt my studies to focus on my university career.

And not only I like playing music, but I also love teaching it, I have done it a few times for some friends of mine. In this regard, I would really like to try and teaching it to the children I will taking care of, since I am convinced that starting playing an instrument at a young age can really positively affect the child's emotional growth, besides the fact that it's very fun and a lot more healthy than other common activities.

I also like drawing and painting, and I have done it since I was a little girl. And I am a passionate reader, especially of English literature and Classics.

I know how to cook simple food, and I am very good at baking.

I already have been an Au pair for 7 months in Ireland during the past year, and I have been taking care of two baby girls. And I loved the experience.

However, I have to say that I love spending time with children and look after them in general, and I can say that children usually love me as well!
So I think working as an au pair would be perfect for me, and that it would be more a pleasure than a job.

I speak, write and read English fluently, and I also understand it very well. I have recently took two IELTS tests both with C1 as a result.
