Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,

My name is Birsu, I’m 21 years old, and I’m currently studying English Language Teaching at university in Turkey. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with children, and becoming an au pair feels like a wonderful opportunity to combine my love for childcare with cultural exchange.

One of my main goals is to gain more hands-on experience with children and improve my pedagogical skills, which will be valuable for my future career as an educator. I believe that living with a host family and helping care for their children will help me grow both personally and professionally.

I would be happy to support your family with daily routines, learning activities, and creating a positive environment for your children. I’m fluent in English, and through my studies, I’ve taken classes in both pedagogy and psychology—so I’m confident and knowledgeable when it comes to child development and communication.

In addition to working with children, I’m very curious about other cultures and languages. I would love the chance to learn more about your way of life, traditions, and daily routines. Cultural exchange is one of the most exciting parts of being an au pair for me, and I look forward to sharing my own culture with you as well.

As a person, I’m friendly, respectful, and easy-going. I adapt well to new situations and always treat others with kindness and care. I would love to become not just a helper, but a positive presence in your children’s lives.

Experience

Although I haven’t worked as an au pair before, I do have experience caring for young children in my family. My two cousins each have a child — one is 1.5 years old and the other is 9 months old. We’re a very close family, and I’ve helped take care of them from time to time. I’ve played with them, helped feed them, and just spent quality time together. Even though I’m not with them every day, I enjoy every moment I spend with them and I feel very comfortable around small children.

I would like to become an au pair abroad because I see it as a special opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Living in a new country and being part of a host family would help me improve my language and communication skills, experience daily life in a different culture, and become more independent. As a future teacher, I believe that learning how children grow up and learn in other countries will help me become more open-minded and skilled in my profession.
