Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Matilda, and I’m so excited about the possibility of becoming your au pair. I’m 17 (turning 18 in November) and just about to graduate high school. I’ve always loved working with children, and over the years I’ve built up plenty of experience - babysitting my younger cousins, and more recently working in an out-of-school-hours care program at a primary school in my local area, which I truly enjoy.

I hope to spend my gap year in 2026 as an au pair before beginning university back home in Australia, where I plan to study either fashion or film - two lifelong passions of mine. Creativity is a huge part of who I am - I love writing, art, sewing, sport, fashion, and reading (basically, I’m curious about everything and always looking for something new to try!). These interests also inspire me to keep learning and finding new ways to express myself.

Travel has also shaped me and been a significant part of my life, as my family is spread across the globe. From a young age, I’ve been fortunate to experience different cultures and perspectives. That’s one of the main reasons I want to be an au pair: to continue broadening my horizons while forming genuine connections.

As an au pair, my goal is to bring both energy and warmth into your home - being a caring, reliable, and fun presence for your children while sharing experiences that make lasting memories.

Experience

I’m really excited about becoming an au pair because it feels like the perfect opportunity to make a positive impact on another family’s life. I’ve lived in the same place my whole life, and I’m ready for a new adventure - a chance to explore a new environment, meet new people, and experience life in a different culture. I’m motivated by the opportunity to learn, grow, and try new things every day. I love connecting with people and hearing their stories, and I think being an au pair is such a special way to do that, while also developing life skills and independence. I’m really looking forward to embracing everything this experience has to offer!

I absolutely love working with kids and have gained lots of experience over the years. I’m currently working at an after-school daycare program, where I help care for and engage with primary school children. It’s such a rewarding job! I’ve also been babysitting members of my family for many years, which has given me plenty of hands-on experience with children of different ages. As the oldest sibling, I’ve always looked after my younger brother, Archie, and my sister, Lola, so caring for kids has been a big part of my life for a long time.

Overall, I just genuinely love being around children. I enjoy connecting with them, helping them grow, and creating fun, positive experiences that they’ll remember.
