Letter to the family

Hello there!
My name is Tania, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Colombia and I’m currently looking for a host family!
I used to be an au pair from 2018-2019 in the US, and had an incredible host family and host kids that taught me a lot and whom I’m grateful to have met. I really enjoyed the experience and got to learn a lot, so I have decided to give it another try but this time in a different place!

I consider myself an introvert who enjoys quiet alone time but at the same time loves meeting new people. I also believe that since I'm an artistically inclined person it's easier for me to get along or connect with families and kids who enjoy art as well. And I also see myself as a very calm/easy going, open minded person.

I live in the capital of Colombia, Bogotá (big city), so I would say I prefer the city over the countryside although I can adapt to any environment as long as the transportation is not a problem.

Experience

Back in 2017/2018 I volunteered as a preschool teacher assistant in a school in a small town a few hours from Bogotá, I assisted the teachers with basic tasks such as helping the kids with arts and crafts, homework etc. And even though some people might think taking care of family doesn't count I think it does as being an aunt taught me a lot about kids, how their brains work, what they enjoy and what they don't. I have a niece (14) and nephew (8) whom I sometimes take care of and used to babysit when they were younger.

Subsequent to that I was an au pair in Seattle, WA for about a year and a half and took care of three kids (ages 5, 7, 9) I drove them to school, extra-curricular school activities, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for them and helped with basic chores as doing their laundry, helping them clean up after themselves, etc. I'll be more than happy to give you more details later on
I want to be an au pair once again because I think it's an amazing program that allows au pairs and families to learn new skills, languages, etc. while helping each other out.
I really enjoyed living in the US and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity but I want to explore a different place this time.

I'm hoping to find a family that has previous experience with au pairs as I feel it might make things a lot easier for both sides and maybe has a basic knowledge of the Colombian culture. I hope to be treated with kindness and not as an employee only. Communication is key for me in any aspect of my life so I'm expecting a family who's open minded and open hearted.
